Upway is entering a new chapter: after our Series C, we’re assembling an A-class Product & Tech team. This role is for designers who want meaningful ownership and the chance to shape products used by thousands of retailers, operators, mechanics, and millions of consumers globally.
We are looking for our first Senior Product Designer to play a Founding Role in this next chapter.
Most companies in our industry don’t compete on design. That’s our advantage. You’ll bring creative vision and craft excellence to build experiences that set a new bar for what’s possible in circular mobility.

What you’ll work on
You will work across a rare breadth of real-world problems, designing experiences across:
Supply (acquiring bikes). Tools for individual sellers and a B2B platform used by 5,000+ retailers. Your challenge: make Upway the fastest, most trusted way to sell an e-bike, whether someone is selling one bike or managing hundreds.
Operations (refurbishing bikes). From logistics and repairs to spare-parts management, quality control, photography, robotics, and more. You’ll design tools that operators and mechanics use every day, and help push our UpCenters toward a future where workflows are measurable, automated, and increasingly powered by smart hardware.
E-commerce (selling bikes, and beyond). More than 1+ million visitors a month. Your challenges: trust, education, decision-making, and helping novices and experts find the perfect bike among thousands. You’ll contribute to a long-term vision of immersive product browsing, AI guidance, and a full ownership journey.
What you will do
Run discovery and learn from our users. You’ll lead user research across our diverse user base: shop owners, e-bike manufacturers, UpCenter mechanics, first-time buyers, experienced e-bike owners. You’ll visit UpCenters, shadow operators, and sit with customers making purchasing decisions. You’ll turn these insights into testable prototypes and clear product directions.
Deliver production-ready designs with craft excellence. You’re hands-on. You’ll translate high-complexity workflows into simple, intuitive interfaces. You’ll ship pixel-perfect, production-ready files for engineers. You’ll leverage AI to rapidly prototype interactions and, when it makes sense, ship front-end changes directly. Your work sets a high bar: clean design systems, intuitive interactions, and copy that guides users effortlessly.
Shape our design systems and standards. You’ll create and evolve Design Systems for our B2B, B2C, and internal platform products. You’ll establish the foundations that let us ship faster without sacrificing quality.
Solve complex problems alongside Product and Engineering. You’ll work at the intersection of vision and execution. When we tackle ambiguous, large problems, like “How do we make Upway the default choice for any retailer selling bikes?”. You’ll bring creative solutions that PMs and Engineers wouldn’t imagine alone. You’ll co-shape the best solution, prototype rapidly, and get to market quickly.
Contribute to our long-term vision. You’ll help shape where we’re going: making Upway the world’s leading destination for e-bike buyers and sellers. You’ll articulate what’s possible years from now and work backward to define what we should build today.
5+ years of product design experience working on complex products, in high-growth environments. You’ve worked in companies that moved quickly, where ambiguity was the norm and you had to define the path forward.
Craft excellence. You build and maintain design systems. You ship pixel-perfect designs with clear interaction details. You like sweating the details others miss.
Customer obsession. You’re curious and empathetic. You want to understand mechanics, shop owners, and first-time e-bike buyers at a deep level. You let user needs guide your decisions.
Ownership and intensity. You care deeply about every interaction being flawless. You have strong opinions and defend them with conviction. You push back when something isn’t good enough. This level of care can feel intense to others, and that’s okay!
Pace and pragmatism. You move fast. You know when to prototype quickly and when to polish. You thrive in high-velocity environments where we ship often and iterate based on what we learn. You’re comfortable leveraging AI tools to accelerate prototyping and, when valuable, making front-end contributions yourself.
Why join Upway?
Founding impact. You’ll shape the design at Upway from the ground up. Your decisions will influence how we build products for years to come.
Real-world complexity. This isn’t pure software. You’ll design for physical operations, consumer e-commerce, and B2B workflows, a rare mix that’s tangible and intellectually rewarding.
International scope. You’ll design for US and European markets from day one, working with users across continents.
Meaningful mission. E-bikes are the future of urban mobility. Every product you ship helps make sustainable transportation accessible to more people.
