As a Trading Manager in the coffee industry, you will oversee and manage the trading activities related to the procurement, sales, and distribution of coffee products. Your role is crucial in ensuring the company achieves its trading objectives while maintaining profitability and minimizing risk.
Market Analysis:
Monitor and analyse market trends, price fluctuations, and global coffee supply and demand dynamics.
Conduct competitive analysis and stay updated on industry developments to provide strategic insights.
Trading Strategy:
Develop and implement trading strategies to optimize procurement and sales processes.
Formulate pricing strategies based on market conditions, cost structures, and company objectives.
Supplier and Buyer Relations:
Establish and maintain relationships with coffee producers, suppliers, and buyers.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure favourable outcomes for the company.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate risks associated with trading activities, including price volatility, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes.
Implement risk management strategies such as hedging and forward contracts.
Contract Management:
Oversee the drafting, review, and management of trading contracts.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and resolve any disputes or issues that arise.
Performance Monitoring:
Track and report on trading performance metrics, including profitability, volume, and market share.
Use data and analytics to make informed decisions and recommendations for improving trading operations.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other departments such as marketing, quality control, and logistics to ensure seamless integration of trading activities.
Provide input and support for product development and marketing strategies based on market insights.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards related to coffee trading and procurement.
Stay informed about changes in regulations and adjust trading practices accordingly.
· A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Agriculture, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
· Minimum of 4 years’ experience in the in trading, procurement, or a related role, preferably within the coffee industry.
· Strong analytical skills, negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of coffee markets and trading practices.
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent problem-solving skills with the aability to make data-driven decisions and solve complex issues effectively
