Position Overview

A Magento eCommerce Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality eCommerce solutions using the Magento (Adobe Commerce) platform. This role involves customizing modules, building new features, integrating third-party systems, optimizing performance, and ensuring a secure and scalable online shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

Development & Customization

• Develop, customize, and maintain Magento 2 modules, themes, and extensions.

• Implement front-end and back-end features following Magento coding standards.

• Customize checkout workflows, product types, pricing rules, and catalog functionality.

Systems Integration

• Integrate Magento with third-party platforms such as payment gateways, shipping providers, CRM/ERP systems, and marketing tools.

• Build and maintain REST/SOAP API integrations.

Performance & Optimization

• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks including slow queries, caching issues, and code inefficiencies.

• Optimize Magento for scalability, speed, and security.

Quality Assurance

• Write clean, maintainable, testable code with proper documentation.

• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to industry best practices.

• Troubleshoot and debug issues across environments.

Deployment & Maintenance

• Manage deployments, version control (Git), and CI/CD workflows.

• Support and maintain production environments.

• Apply Magento patches, upgrades, and security updates.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong proficiency with Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) development.

• Solid knowledge of PHP 7/8, MySQL, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks.

• Experience with Magento architecture (MVC, EAV, dependency injection).

• Familiarity with Composer, Git, ElasticSearch, Redis, Varnish, or similar technologies.

• Experience working with REST/SOAP APIs.

• Understanding of secure coding practices and eCommerce security concepts.

Preferred Qualifications

• Magento 2 Certification (Developer, Front-End Developer, or Solutions Specialist).

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).

• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development processes.

• Experience with performance tuning for large-scale eCommerce websites.
