Before founding Spideo, Gabriel managed the digital studio of Marathon Media (now Banijay group). This HEC Paris graduate had an idea in mind. Observing the digital wave that was about to overwhelm the audiovisual sector, he thought a new way should be found to bring content to users with the creation of a tool: a recommendation engine.

In 2010, he created Spideo along with his friend Thibault, a company which developed the mood-based recommendation engine, integrated a few months later by the CANAL+ group at the launch of CanalPlay Infinity. Surrounded by a team passionate about what they do, they propelled Spideo as the leader in recommendation systems for all cultural industries, from France to Brazil.

Before joining Spideo, Némésis had a rich academic background: literary preparatory studies, bachelor's degree in film history, master's degree in philosophy and anthropology, award-winning PhD on social sciences and film distribution. She also participated in the organization of numerous film festivals and events and still gives lectures in several universities and business schools.

Looking towards the digital system, she first received training at Epitech, and then discovered Spideo by pursuing a desire: linking tech and cinema. Her integration at Spideo came naturally, especially on the question of the human approach to the digital world.

Her cult movie : Io la conoscevo bene, Antonio Pietrangeli (1966)

After studying computer science in Bristol, England, Tom joined a small music streaming company as a developer. He then continued his career at Apple, in London. After a few years spent in the English capital, he decided in 2020 to join Spideo, in Paris.

Having always worked in the media industry, his meeting with Spideo was ideal, because it is a medium he knows well and an opportunity to dedicate himself to intellectual challenges and structuring subjects. He particularly appreciates the team dynamic, which is found both during work sessions and outside of them such as afterworks or sports outings.

His cult movie: Reservoir Dogs, Quentin Tarantino (1992)

Presentation

Spideo is the leading company in video and cultural content recommendation.

Founded in 2010, Spideo quickly became the reference as a recommendation service for VoD platforms in France. The company works with most of the major players in the broadcasting market: Canal, Sky, Televisa, ADN. In constant international development, their product is deployed in many countries such as Mexico, Switzerland, Brazil, Poland.

Above all, Spideo is about human and adaptable recommendations. Its field is undeniably technology, but with an ethical approach. The algorithms, dashboards and analytics provided are transparent, controllable and respectful of data protection: Spideo believes in a human-centered AI.

The concept of this technology was born out of frustration. The founders were not satisfied with spending as much time browsing through online movie catalogs as they did watching them. The very notion of advice that existed in video stores and that was embodied by the figure of the clerk, is no longer found on digital VOD platforms. It is this experience of human, personalized and conversational advice that has been the company's objective since its creation.

What they are looking for

Spideo is looking for curious people, eager to become experts in recommendation engines. They are agile profiles, who are not afraid to innovate, to think outside the box and to solve problems, in a friendly and trustful way.

Be they juniors or more experienced, many types of positions are open. As a tech company that addresses the cultural sector, Spideo welcomes anime fans, Italian cinema aficionados, video game enthusiasts, English literature lovers…
