About This Role
The Accounting Manager leads the North American accounting/GL operations and oversees the accounting. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting processes. The Accounting Manager works side by side with the AP/AR Manager to provide support & leadership, drive process improvements, ensure timely and accurate reporting, and manage collaboration across operational, production, and finance teams. The position requires strong analytical capability, team management, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑growing organization.
The shortlisted candidate can be based either at Watertown, MA or Suwanee, GA.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Accounting
- Manage and mentor accounting staff to ensure high‑quality performance, accuracy, and accountability.
- Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation across all entities.
- Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and closing deliverables prepared by the team.
- Lead month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring compliance with corporate deadlines.
- Oversee consolidation of monthly and yearly results into corporate tools, ensuring accurate mapping and understanding for stakeholders.
- Monitor and review balance sheet integrity, intercompany transactions, in‑transit accounts, and interim accounts; escalate issues as needed.
- Support relationship with tax firm to determine accruals/payments for state and federal
- Manage capex and fixed asset reporting across the team.
- Ensure accuracy of COGS, inventory valuation, and stock variation calculations; guide team’s work with production/operations.
- Lead audits and guide team in reconciling discrepancies.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and reporting processes.
- Identify automation opportunities and partner with IT and finance leadership on system enhancements.
- Lead or co‑lead ERP upgrades or implementations impacting the accounting function.
- Support company initiatives to reduce manual processes and move toward paperless workflows.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax accountants, and regulatory agencies, ensuring team preparedness.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure all financial operations comply with internal policies, GAAP/IFRS standards, and audit requirements.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls; lead periodic audits and ensure process documentation is maintained.
- Oversee preparation of audit deliverables and ensure timely completion by the team.
- Review and analyze financial and operational KPIs, providing insights and recommendations.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits for the accounting team.
- Respond to escalated inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to support business initiatives and financial integrity.
Essential Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA/CMA certification is a plus, but not required.
- 7–12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including supervisory or management experience.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and standards (GAAP). Experience of European GAAP/IFRS a plus, but not essential.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Experience with, Syspro, LN Infor, is a plus.
- Experience in working with multiple legal entities and complex hierarchy of international company.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Including but not limited to, proactively investigating to understand a task yourself.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis
- Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines.
- Agility in a forever/fast changing environment and adapting as the company grows.
- Strong ethics and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortability in asking challenging questions and for support where needed.
Compensation range: $110,000 – $135,000 USD
