The position

Job description

Responsibilities

Present in the United States since 1939, Societe Generale today employs approximately 2,400 professionals in six cities across the United States.

The aviation finance team is based at the region's headquarters in New York and is looking for a VIE from October 2025. The team consists of four people who work closely with the Paris and Tokyo teams.

Within the Sustainable Transportation Solutions division, the team provides financing solutions to airlines, lessors and Institutional Investors for their commercial aircraft acquisitions. The product offering includes portfolio financing with or without recourse, leasing and commercial debt financing, Insured Debt, Export Finance, as well as capital market solutions.

The analyst contributes to the origination and execution of aircraft financing transactions.

The analyst participates in all stages of the process of arranging a given transaction, in support of a Senior Deal Manager, in particular:
1. Origination of financing mandates (preparation of responses to calls for tenders as well as unsolicited bids)
2. Structuring (design of the financing structure best suited to the client's wishes under the constraint of controlling the level of risk taken by the bank, definition of financial conditions, modelling of financial flows as well as, where applicable, the associated accounting and tax aspects, drafting of term sheets)
3. Internal validation (analysis of the various risks related to transactions (credit, assets, underwriting, structure, etc.), obtaining technical validations on legal, accounting, tax and financial aspects, drafting of the credit file for management and risk control)
4. Execution (review of contractual documentation prepared by external law firms, participation in negotiation meetings with the client, management of the operational implementation of financing (distribution of funds), transmission of the file to the middle office)
5. Participation in cross-functional projects within the team (e.g. reflection on new product developments / New Products Committee, market research on developments in the aviation financing market, aircraft models, etc.)

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a Master's degree from a Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Finance
  • A previous experience in Structured Finance or Credit Analysis (as a trainee) would be appreciated

Language skills:
  • Fluent in English

Operational, technical & soft skills:
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient/Good command of MS Office


The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in New York is to begin as soon as possible, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months.

In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.
