The position

Job description

The Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the FOS team.
You’ll work with a modern stack (React Native, Python/Django) and guide a talented group of engineers through technical challenges, delivery execution, and personal growth.

This is a high-impact leadership role, combining strategic thinking, technical depth, and team development in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and grow the FOS engineering team within a collaborative, low-ego culture

  • Define the technical direction and drive architectural decisions

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software

  • Foster strong collaboration between Engineering, Product, and Data teams

  • Promote best practices in testing, CI/CD, DevOps, and code craftsmanship

  • Help shape and scale Smartway’s engineering organization as we grow


Preferred experience

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience managing engineering teams, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment

  • Strong understanding of modern web and mobile technologies: TypeScript, React, React Native, Python

  • Solid background in system design and architecture

  • Ability to balance technical leadership with delivery execution

  • Strong communication, mentoring, and team-building skills

  • Fluent in French and English

  • Willing to travel to Nantes once per quarter

Nice to Have

  • Experience in SaaS B2B or Food Retail sectors

  • Familiarity with data-driven or machine learning products

  • Past experience scaling teams and systems in a high-growth context
