Job description

This internship will be carried out within the Biomechanics team, contributing to the improvement of the FDsize module, dedicated to the simulation of flow diverters. Flow diverters are a key treatment option for complex cerebral aneurysms, and reliable patient-specific simulations play an important role in treatment planning and decision-making.

Missions
The FDsize module is responsible for simulating the deployment and behavior of flow diverters and currently relies on a proprietary algorithm developed in-house. The Biomechanics team is improving the design of this module. The aim of the internship is to develop a finite element (FE) model for simulating flow diverters using the company’s in-house solver. This FEM model will serve the objectives defined for improving FDsize module and needs to be compliant with Sim&Size™ design criteria.

Objectives:

  • Finite Element Simulations: Develop and run FE simulations of flow diverter deployment, post-process results, analyze key performance indicators, and refine the model to meet product design objectives.
  • Validation: Contribute to verification and validation studies using the new model to assess its credibility.

Preferred experience

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Finite Element Modeling
  • Python Programming
  • Post-processing of simulation results (experience with ParaView or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of Solid Mechanics / Mechanical Engineering
  • Analytical Thinking & Problem-Solving Skills
  • Familiarity with C++ is a plus
  • Familiarity with validation and experimental methods
