The position

Job description

We’re looking for a senior Backend Engineer to join our Video Production squad — a small, focused team at the heart of ScorePlay’s product.

As the most senior engineer on the squad, you’ll take ownership of backend services powering our video processing and media automation flows.

This is a role for someone who wants both autonomy and impact — someone eager to take full technical ownership of their projects while collaborating across product, video and front-end teams.

🧠 What you’ll work on :

  1. Backend Development

    • Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and data pipelines in Go and related technologies.

    • Monitor performance and reliability, ensuring scalable, maintainable systems.

  2. Data & Databases

    • Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexing for efficient storage and retrieval.
  3. Cloud Infrastructure

    • Deploy and manage backend systems on AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, etc.).

    • Optimize resources for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  4. Collaboration & Delivery

    • Partner with front-end engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver seamless user experiences.

    • Help translate business and product goals into reliable technical solutions.

  5. Quality & Continuous Improvement

    • Test, debug, and review code to ensure functionality, performance, and resilience.

    • Implement unit and integration tests, and contribute to shared best practices across the team.

  6. Technical Leadership

    • Lead by example through code reviews, mentoring, and sharing best practices.

    • Contribute to a culture of technical excellence and learning.

Preferred experience

  • 5+ years of backend experience, with at least 1 year working in Go in a production environment.

  • Comfortable working in fast-moving environments with evolving priorities.

  • Solid understanding of software design principles and API development.

  • Strong communication in English (French is a plus).

  • You’re based in Paris or nearby, and willing to join the team at the office at least 2-3 days per week.

  • A mindset focused on quality, pragmatism and delivery.

    Format: Take-home assignment, followed by a review interview

    You’ll complete a practical exercise designed to assess your skills and problem-solving approach relevant to the position. This will be followed by a review session with the team to present your results and discuss your approach.
