As a fully owned subsidiary of Safran Electronics & Defense, Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia Pty Ltd (SEDA) delivers and supports various products including high-performance optronics and inertial navigation equipment.

Headquartered in Sydney, SEDA brings local expertise in the integration of optronics and navigation systems for the air, land, and naval platforms of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces.

The Field Support Engineer's role is to plan, lead and support Technical Assistance and Training Delivery for existing and new SAFRAN products. This role is largely autonomous, customer-facing, involving regular international and interstate travel.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Leading, coordinating, planning, and executing off-site technical assistance and product training for new and existing in-service support products both within Australia and Internationally;
• Maintaining Help Desk facility to ensure system availability and Customers satisfaction in line with In Service Support requirements and obligations;
• Assisting with the development and maintenance of training material for in-service support products;
• Building and maintaining customer relationships and satisfaction;
• Providing assistance to support workshop activities when required;
• Willingness and ability to regularly travel both interstate and internationally when required;
• Willingness and ability to work at heights;
• Staying informed and up to date with SEDA-supported products and services;
• Taking ownership of customer issues to drive solutions within the Support Services constituent teams (Engineering, Supply Support, Operations);
• Adhering to customer and SAFRAN safety and Quality requirements.


Preferred experience

To be successful in this role you must have :

• Tertiary qualification of Certification IV or proven experience in Engineering; in the field of Electronics;
• Specialised knowledge and/or operational understanding of optronics, radio and navigation systems is highly desirable;
• Proven experience with the setup and application of test equipment (electrical analyser, digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, signal generator, etc.);
• Understanding of electrical/electronic wiring and competent to analyse and interpret technical documents, schematics and technical drawings;
• Intermediate working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, Visio).
