Job description

Why do we need an Associate Lead Level Designer ?

As the Associate Lead Level Designer for Age of Bhaarat, you will help guide the creative and technical direction of the game’s level design team. Working closely with the Lead Level Designer, you will contribute to shaping the game’s exploration, combat encounters, and world structure — ensuring a consistent, high-quality gameplay experience across all environments. You will support the team through hands-on design work, mentorship, and coordination with other departments to align gameplay, art, and narrative goals.

Core Mandate (3 main missions)

  • Support the Lead Level Designer in managing and reviewing the team’s output, ensuring gameplay spaces meet our design and quality standards.

  • Own key regions or missions of the game, from concept through whitebox, playtesting, and final polish — setting a benchmark for level quality and player experience.

  • Collaborate with level designers, environment artists, narrative designers and combat designers to build visually rich, mechanically engaging, and well-paced gameplay experiences.

  • Mentor a team of 5-6 level designers with various levels of experience.

Success Criteria (What are we expecting from you in the next months)

  • Help maintain consistency and coherence across all levels through feedback, documentation, and hands-on examples.

  • Deliver polished and functional level content that captures the tone, pacing, and challenge of a Souls-like adventure.

  • Proactively identify and solve design or pipeline issues to improve iteration speed and collaboration across departments.

  • Support and guide junior designers through reviews, playtests, and best practices.

  • Strengthen communication bridges between design, art, and tech teams to ensure smooth integration of level content.
