Job description

Welcome to the Team 

The warehouse is used to store the right amount of materials, goods and products in the right location to feed the business’s operational and customer demand. This role is ultimately responsible for the ‘internal’ part of the Logistics Centre. The post holder will ensure that the resource is used effectively and efficiently to meet the daily demands of the business in terms of customers orders.  This role is a fixed term contract (approx. 12 months).  

Getting a Flying Start 

This ‘hands on’ role is responsible for leading the warehouse team, making sure work is carried out safely and accurately.  The role is responsible for keeping inventory records correct, improving processes and efficiencies, reducing costs, and ensuring the site runs smoothly and efficiently.

Managing the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, ensuring business targets are met. Provide support to the Warehouse Manager in coordinating workload and providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues and implementing corrective actions, whilst fostering a culture of working safely.

This role will deputise for the Warehouse Manager during absence relating to work distribution and prioritisation of the warehouse workload.

The role requires an individual who demonstrates strong leadership.  Who can adapt quickly to change and deals well under pressure whilst maintaining a hands-on approach, demonstrating a great sense of ownership.

How You Make an Impact 

  • Assist in running an efficient warehouse operation which is able to fulfil operational and customer demand and meet set targets.  This includes the main administrative tasks for the warehouse.
  • Training and Development for Warehouse team.
  • Keep all standard operating procedures (SOPs) up to date and followed by the team.
  • Produce regular reports and statistics as and when required.
  • Assist in planning future capacity requirements.
  • Ensure warehouse team comply to health, safety and environmental regulations and work safely to protect themselves and others in the warehouse environment.
  • Encourage team engagement in safety practices, including raising observations, reporting near misses, and contributing to process improvements.
  • Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency.
  • Maintain high standards of security in the warehouse, working as a call out contact for site security where required.
  • Schedule regular 1:2:1 Meetings with Warehouse Team, communicating business priorities, targets and operational requirements.

Your Starting Points 

  • Computer skills (All Microsoft Packages): Excel, Outlook, Word
  • 5 years experience within a compatible industry sector and environment
  • 2 years team management experience
  • Educated to A Level standard – NQF Level 2
  • Business understanding & Strategic thinking
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Calm approach to problem solving
