MaiaSpace is a European space tech company, designing, manufacturing and operating competitive and sustainable solutions for space mobility. Our aim is to successfully design and test a cost-effective and reusable mini-launch vehicle by 2026.

Systement Engineer (IOS)

We are looking for a system engineer to join one of our agile multi-disciplinary teams in charge of the development of MaiaSpace Colibri orbital vehicle. Colibri orbital vehicle has different roles.

  • It will first play a kickstage role (launcher third stage) enhancing MaiaSpace performance and injection flexibility.
  • Secondly, additional functionalities will be added to the vehicle to address multi plan constellations deployments and in orbit services opportunities from which active debris removal is one of our main targets. This vehicle is at the crossroad between a launcher and a satellite. We need you there!

While Colibri Kickstage first vehicle version will have its first operational flight Q4 2026, One year later we will need to extend the lifetime of the vehicle from hours to several months for constellation deployments (2027) and then we will add other functionalities to do in space inspection (2028), rdv maneuvers and debris deorbitation (2030). In other words, we will make evolve progressively the kickstage into an orbital vehicle.

As part of the Colibri team, your main missions and responsibilities will consist of :

  • Participating to Colibri IOS vehicles system analysis. Several concepts are under study with different partners.
  • Preparing the development of Colibri called “Endurance” that will fly for months from end 2027.
  • Proposing short term demonstrations with partners to feed Colibri roadmap
  • Identifying new collaboration opportunities with partners.
  • Participating to discussion with potentiel customers


Preferred experience

🎓 Qualification:

We are looking for candidates with the following experience and skills:

  • Aeronautics & Space engineering degree (+5 years post-Baccalaureate) with at least 5 to 10 years of experience.
  • Spaceraft system engineering experience
  • Strong experience in at least one of these fields: satellite mechanical and thermal architecture, robotics, Guidance Navigation and control, Visual based navigation, satellite control center operations, orbital mechanics.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and flexibly with regard to a start-up environment.
  • Autonomy, rigor, good interpersonal and communication skills, proactive problem-solving attitude,
  • Ability to work quickly, be "solutions-oriented" and propose disruptive ideas,
