Job description

About Livestorm:

Livestorm is the world's leading end-to-end video engagement platform.

Founded in 2016, Livestorm allows companies to organize powerful online meetings, webinars and virtual events from end-to-end. Our web-browser platform provides teams with all the workflows around video engagement to promote, host and analyze online events.

Livestorm is built with ease of use in mind. We serve companies of all sizes, from startups to Fortune 500s. Brands like Shopify, Honda, Spendesk, Front and Revolut trust Livestorm for premium video engagement during their online events.

Here are our core values:

  • Stay curious: Be interested in the world around you.

  • Remain humble: Keep learning and keep your ego in check.

  • Be resourceful: Go that extra mile in the most efficient way.

  • Own it: Take pride in what you do, own your wins, and fails.

  • Be transparent: Sharing knowledge, learnings, feedback, and mistakes.

Mission

As a Staff Frontend Engineer at Livestorm, you will be the most senior frontend voice in our engineering organization, the person who shapes not just what we build, but how we build it.

This is a high-agency, high-impact role. You'll own the evolution of our Vue.js frontend architecture, lead meaningful refactors, and raise the bar for every engineer on the team. But this isn't a heads-down, purely technical role. At Livestorm, Product, Design, and Engineering work as one, and you'll be at the heart of that collaboration.

You'll work daily with Product Managers to turn ambiguous problems into clear technical directions, and with Designers to make sure what we ship is fast, polished, and genuinely valuable to our users. You'll be the engineer that Product and Design most want in the room, someone who brings technical depth and user empathy in equal measure.

Livestorm is a real-time video platform. That means real constraints, real complexity, and a product where quality is always visible.

The team

You'll be joining a product squad focused on our core webinar room experience, the live video features at the heart of Livestorm. The team is 1 Engineering Manager, 1 Product Manager, 1 Product Designer, 5 Engineers, and 1 Support Engineer. You'll be the most senior technical voice on the frontend, working in close day-to-day collaboration with Product and Design.

Your scope goes beyond the squad though. While embedded in the meeting room team day-to-day, you'll also serve as the frontend architecture reference for the entire Livestorm product, setting the standards, patterns, and technical direction that every frontend engineer builds on. Livestorm's broader Tech & Product org is around 30 people, so you'll have real reach and visibility across the whole organisation.

We are a remote-first company. Members of our teams are located across France, the USA, Germany and Portugal, so we're looking for the best talent, no matter where you live.

The stack

Our frontend is a Vue 3 codebase running on Vite 7. Here's what you'll be working with day to day:

  • Framework & language: Vue 3, TypeScript, Composition API

  • Build & tooling: Vite 7, monorepo environment with Bazel, Node 24

  • Data layer: Vue Apollo Client, Graphql backend layer communicating with gRPC microservices

  • State management: Pinia & Vuex (TypeScript-first, used in all new code)

  • Design system: Reka UI 2.3 (headless component primitives), our own ui-vue component library and design tokens, Storybook 10

  • Real-time & video: OpenTok/Vonage WebRTC client, hls.js for live video streaming

  • Testing: Vitest browser component testing, Playwright for e2e, Cypress

  • Observability: Sentry, Grafana with OpenTelemetry

In this role, you will:

  • Own the frontend architecture direction, identify structural issues, lead refactors, and establish patterns the whole team builds on

  • Work closely with Product Managers from day one: shape requirements, challenge scope, surface constraints early, and keep technical decisions grounded in user needs

  • Work with Product Designers to bridge the gap between design intent and technical implementation, pushing for quality, consistency, and a good user experience across the board

  • Drive performance across the product: Core Web Vitals, rendering efficiency, and bundle optimization

  • Build and maintain our design system and component library as a shared foundation between Engineering and Design

  • Lead cross-team technical initiatives and align engineering and product stakeholders around shared goals

  • Mentor frontend engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and direct feedback

  • Contribute to the technical roadmap and help engineering leadership make well-reasoned trade-offs

  • Champion good practices in testing, observability, CI/CD and frontend reliability

Requirements:

For this Staff Frontend Engineer role, we are looking for someone with the following experience:

  • Deep expertise in Vue.js and the modern frontend ecosystem, with a track record of leading architecture decisions at scale, across teams, and leaving the codebase in better shape

  • Strong GraphQL knowledge: comfortable with Apollo Client, queries, mutations, subscriptions, and working within a GraphQL-first data layer, including communication with services over gRPC.

  • Masters AI tooling and drives its adoption across the team to raise both engineering velocity and quality

  • Experience working closely with Product and Design, not just alongside them

  • A product mindset with high agency: you engage with user feedback, ask "why", and make sure technical outcomes solve real problems without waiting to be asked

  • Solid experience with performance engineering: measuring, diagnosing, and improving

  • Experience building and maintaining design systems or component libraries, ideally co-owned with a Design team

  • Good communication skills, able to talk through technical trade-offs with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a remote-first, distributed engineering environment

  • Familiarity with monitoring, SLOs, and frontend observability practices

  • Prior work on developer experience tooling or CI/CD pipelines

Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we'll let you in on a secret: there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. So however you identify and whatever background you bring with you, please apply if this is a role that would make you excited to come into work every day.
