Job Description

As metabolomics scientist, you will join the Analytical Sciences and Discovery Center of Excellence, in our R&D team at Lesaffre.

You will contribute to the success of R&D projects through the metabolomics and lipidomics characterization necessary for the development of new processes and products.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Analysis

  • Design, develop, and optimize metabolomics and lipidomics workflows using LC-MS/MS.
  • Perform method validation and ensure data quality through rigorous QC procedures.
  • Analyze complex metabolomics datasets using bioinformatics tools and statistical methods.
  • Interpret metabolic pathway alterations to answer biological questions.

Technical Operations

  • Operate and maintain mass spectrometry instrumentation (Orbitrap, TOF or similar platforms).
  • Troubleshoot instrument performance issues and optimize analytical conditions.
  • Develop and implement sample preparation protocols for various biological samples.
  • Manage sample tracking, data organization, and laboratory information management systems.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies in metabolomics/lipidomics.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including bioinformaticians and biostatisticians.
  • Present research findings at internal meetings.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and SOPs.

Preferred experience

Education & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Metabolomics, or related field with postdoctoral or industry experience in metabolomics/lipidomics.

Technical Expertise

  • Extensive hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS systems and strong knowledge of MS principles.
  • Experience with metabolomics data processing software (e.g., Compound Discoverer, LipidSearch).
  • Competency in statistical analysis.

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with other ‘omics platforms (proteomics, genomics, transcriptomics) a plus.
  • Knowledge of metabolic pathways and biochemistry.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and pathway analysis tools (MetaboAnalyst, Cytoscape).
