Job description

🧰 Who We Are

Wakam is a B2B2C digital insurer, creating white-label and embedded insurance solutions for 80+ partners across Europe. With operations in 32 countries and over €900 million in revenue (2023), we are pioneering a transparent, tech-driven, and mission-led approach to insurance.

At Wakam, we're not just transforming the insurance industry — we’re also redefining what it means to be a People team. We blend strategic HR partnership with hands-on support, AI-powered processes, and a deep commitment to empowering our teams to thrive.

🚀 About the Team

The People team at Wakam is a dynamic, highly collaborative unit of 9 HR professionals supporting a fast-growing and international organization. We work closely with business leaders to shape organizational success through strategic workforce planning, talent development, and operational excellence.

As a People Partner, you’ll join a forward-thinking team that includes a VP People, L&D Partner, Labour & Employee Relations Manager, Recruiter, Head of People Operations & Experience, and more. You’ll report to our Lead People Partner and support our France-based teams within a company of 240 employees — many of whom work remotely.

🎯 Your Mission

We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on People Partner who thrives in dynamic environments and is eager to take full ownership of their scope. This role is about more than just applying policies — you’ll be embedded in the business, supporting teams on everything from performance and internal mobility to compensation and organizational design.

✨ Key Responsibilities

🧩 Strategic HR Partnership

  • Act as a trusted advisor to managers on people topics: workforce planning, organization design, feedback, conflict resolution, etc.

  • Collaborate with leadership to align HR initiatives with business goals.

  • Analyze HR metrics (attrition, surveys, KPIs) to drive data-informed actions.

  • Support AI-driven transformation initiatives and reskilling where needed.

  • Coach managers on applying HR policies and best practices effectively.

🌱 Talent Development

  • Drive the performance review process and support managers with development plans.

  • Coach leaders on team dynamics, internal mobility, and career growth.

  • Help implement career frameworks (career ladders, succession planning).

  • Support management training initiatives and prioritize training needs with the L&D Partner.

💰 Compensation & Benchmarking

  • Lead the annual compensation review for your scope.

  • Guide salary and bonus decisions using market benchmarks.

  • Support recruitment with compensation benchmarking per role.

⚖️ Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Partner with managers to manage conduct and performance issues.

  • Provide expert advice on French labor law and compliance.

  • Investigate employee complaints and help resolve complex ER cases.

🤝 Team Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between the People team and business stakeholders during reorganizations and key initiatives.

  • Co-create and roll out HR policies with the wider team.

  • Help identify AI automation opportunities to improve HR efficiency.

  • Share on-the-ground business insights to help shape HR strategy.

🧠 What You Bring

Must-Have Experience

  • 5+ years in an HRBP role within fast-paced, evolving organizations.

  • Strong knowledge of French labor law and HR compliance.

  • Hands-on experience with compensation review processes.

  • Proven ability to manage talent development programs, succession planning, and leadership training.

  • Prior experience supporting tech or digital teams.

✨ Who You Are

  • Bilingual in French and English (written and spoken).

  • Deeply curious about the business and motivated to understand how teams work.

  • Skilled in Excel, with a strong analytical mindset.

  • Proactive and excited to explore AI applications in HR.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and managing change.

  • Not afraid to have difficult conversations when needed.

  • Agile, responsive, and able to shift priorities with ease.

🌟 Why Join Wakam?

  • Be part of a mission-driven company at the forefront of insurtech.

  • Work in a high-impact role with full ownership of your HR scope.

  • Join a collaborative, forward-thinking People team.

  • Experiment with AI-driven HR tools and innovation.

  • Enjoy a flexible working model (hybrid/remote) and autonomy in your day-to-day.

  • Shape the future of how HR operates in a growing international company.
