The position

Job description

As part of L-Acoustics' R&D leadership, the Director of Development, Electronics will lead the development and delivery of products in the Electronics R&D department, leveraging the input from the Research and Technology pillars.

This role involves building and managing the product development team, collaborating with stakeholders, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring the successful launch and maintenance of L-Acoustics products.

The Director of Development, Electronics will be pivotal in driving the design and development of cutting-edge electronics products and solutions including amplification, signal processing and network technology, ensuring they meet the highest expectations in terms of performance, reliability and user experience.

More precisely the Director of Development, Electronics will focus on:

Product Development:

  • Oversee the development of the L-Acoustics electronics products portfolio, including audio amplification, processing and conversion, device connectivity and audio transport in conformance with company strategy.
  • Ensure product quality, on-time delivery and performance standards.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks and risks, suggest trade-offs and drive problem resolution.
  • Champion development methodologies best suited for the project.
  • Foster a spirit of customer-centric development and quick learning.

Product Definition and Innovation:

  • Lead the culture of continuous improvement, exploring advancements in design and process to enhance product quality and performance.
  • Balance performance and innovation against time to market and cost.
  • Foster a forward-thinking mindset within product teams.
  • Ensure team ownership and autonomy in solving problems.

Department Management:

  • Structure, build and manage various product development teams.
  • Manage budget and resource distribution.
  • Promote a customer-centric mindset within product development teams.
  • Foster a culture of innovation within product development teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work together with the Director of Research and the Director of Technology to create a high-performing Electronics department.
  • Collaborate with the Directors of Product Development in the Software and Loudspeaker Systems departments to co-build solutions combining software, electronics, and loudspeaker products.
  • Together with Product Management develop and communicate a clear and achievable product roadmap, aligning with business goals and responding to market demands, competitive pressure and technological advancements.
  • Collaborate with other divisions on key development projects.

Qualifications & Personality:

  • Master's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in a similar leadership role ideally in the audio industry for at least 10 years.
  • Experience in transformative, fast-paced and growing environments with heightened innovation focus.
  • Excellent project management and team leadership skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to influence at all levels of the organization
