Job description

Help us use technology to make a big green dent in the universe!

Kraken powers some of the most innovative global developments in energy.

We’re a technology company focused on creating a smart, sustainable energy system. From optimising renewable generation, creating a more intelligent grid and enabling utilities to provide excellent customer experiences, our operating system for energy is transforming the industry around the world in a way that benefits everyone.

It’s a really exciting time in energy. Help us make a real impact on shaping a better, more sustainable future.

We’re looking for a proactive and driven Product Manager to join our Developer Foundations team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with some of the most experienced engineers at Kraken to tackle problems that are truly platform-wide. You’ll need to be a self-starter: someone who sees a problem and can’t help but want to fix it!

You’ll be well organised, working methodically and clearly to ensure projects go from inception to completion. We put the customer first wherever we are in the business and work empathetically with one another to deliver the best possible outcomes.

The role

You’ll work in the Developer Foundations team, building products and tooling to improve the software engineering standards and the developer experience at Kraken, ensuring that we can deliver fast and with confidence for our clients. You’ll identify the most pressing problems to solve while ensuring focus aligns with our company goals.

The domain for which the team is responsible includes deployment pipelines, application architecture, internal tooling, documentation, testing, security and training.

This is a high impact, high profile role for someone who wants to make a marked difference to the internal developer experience at Kraken, ensuring their needs are recognised and making their experience of working here even better while enabling the platform to scale.

What you'll do

  • Work closely with (mostly) technical stakeholders across the business, and carry out user research to define the product strategy and ensure it aligns with business objectives and evolving needs across different markets
  • Identify and own ways to measure the success of your domain, use these to effectively communicate the value of your team’s delivery to the wider company.
  • Work with the development team to shape the high-level roadmap and prioritise feature development across the platform
  • Enable delivery of the roadmap by providing continued clarity around prioritisation and ensuring that implementation has the best impact for our users
  • Coordinate across product teams to proactively manage dependencies and drive cross team collaboration to deliver outcomes
  • Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Continue to embed product practice across Developer Foundations and the broader Platform teams
  • What you'll need

  • To be able to recognise what needs to be done (and, just as importantly, what doesn’t need to be done right now) based on the overall goals of the team and our strategic direction
  • To have a basic understanding of and an interest in technical concepts such as deployment pipelines, testing methodologies and databases
  • To be able to work in a dynamic environment. Fantastic ideas come from everywhere in Kraken Technologies, so you’ll need to be able to spot and harness them.
  • Experience in a fast-paced start-up or scale-up would be a plus
  • To be curious and willing to roll up your sleevesTo have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact with people with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Nice to haves:

  • Experience in building internal-facing tooling
  • To have knowledge of the energy industry, whether that’s in the UK or globally.
  • Kraken is a certified Great Place to Work in France, Germany, Spain, Japan and Australia. In the UK we are one of the Best Workplaces on Glassdoor with a score of 4.7. Check out our Welcome to the Jungle site (FR/EN) to learn more about our teams and culture.

Are you ready for a career with us? We want to ensure you have all the tools and environment you need to unleash your potential. If you have any specific accommodations or a unique preference, please contact us at inclusion@kraken.tech and we'll do what we can to customise your interview process for comfort and maximum magic!
