Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Internal Communications Lead to help our group functions People Team bring their priorities to life, inspiring pride, passion and a stronger connection to our customers and purpose along the way. You’ll work closely with them, supporting People initiatives across group functions, including embedding a high-performance culture, progressing our hybrid working approach and driving key change projects.
Using your strategic thinking and hands-on approach, you’ll craft messaging that’s clear, engaging and aligned with our strategy - helping group functions colleagues understand, connect with and take action on our People initiatives and culture-change priorities. Current 6 month FTC
What’s the job?
- Strategic partnering: Work closely with the group functions People Team to understand priorities and shape them into clear, inspiring communication and engagement plans that bring the People agenda to life.
- Performance and culture comms: Develop and deliver a communications and engagement plan that supports embedding a stronger performance culture and driving broader cultural change across group functions. This includes creating a compelling narrative that highlights how colleagues and leaders can contribute to success, reinforcing desired behaviours and supporting our culture and strategic goals.
Partner closely with the Channels & Content Lead to ensure group functions’ set piece communications are aligned and used consistently to reinforce culture change.
Take a two-way, iterative approach by listening to colleagues, experimenting with engagement tactics and adjusting messaging to ensure initiatives land effectively and encourage the desired behaviours.
- Change communications: Lead the design and delivery of communications for key change programmes that support our People agenda - from enhancing performance to strengthening career development. Work closely with the High Performance Change Manager, Group Reward and Capability team to create clear, engaging messages and stories that help group functions colleagues understand the change, take ownership of their development, and see the diverse career paths available to them at Kingfisher.
- People leader enablement: Design and deliver activities and resources that equip people leaders to communicate confidently about People initiatives. Take ownership of the plan, messaging and journey of the people leader calls, co-creating content and approach with the High Performance Working Group. Provide toolkits, talking points and opportunities for leaders to ask questions, share feedback and embed initiatives effectively within their teams.
- Content creation: Produce high-quality, audience-focused materials that bring People programmes to life and encourage participation.
- Storytelling and recognition: Identify, capture and share stories from across the business that showcase progress, celebrate success and reinforce the behaviours and culture we want to see. Use these stories to inspire colleagues across group functions, foster pride and strengthen their sense of belonging.
- Collaboration and alignment: Work closely with the wider Internal Communications team and banner communications teams to ensure People-related messaging is consistent, aligned with our overall internal communications strategy and integrated with other business priorities.
- Measurement and improvement: Track and evaluate the effectiveness of communications on colleague understanding and engagement with People initiatives. Build in opportunities to gather feedback, monitor outcomes and test new approaches, using insights to continuously refine messaging and engagement strategies.
