As a Group Buyer, you will help deliver great products at the best total cost, supporting Kingfisher’s purpose of Better Homes, Better Lives, For Everyone . You will work with product teams to define sourcing needs, build supplier strategies and drive operational excellence across your sub‑category. Your work will ensure we make confident, insight‑led decisions that strengthen value, quality and long‑term customer experience.
What’s the job?
- Define sourcing needs for your sub‑category and work with product teams to understand the full range and product mix
- Analyse product components and manufacturing processes to support accurate costing and value optimisation
- Build and deliver sourcing strategies that identify the right suppliers, factories and locations for the Group
- Shape a competitive vendor base by defining the right mix of suppliers and restructuring where needed to reduce risk and improve cost
- Lead negotiations, manage tenders with buying offices and present supplier selections to Product Leads.
- Organise and run buying programmes in collaboration with product development, strategic sourcing and manufacturing excellence teams.
- Ensure supplier choices meet quality, quantity and delivery requirements through ongoing engagement with sourcing offices
What you’ll bring - Strong product expertise, including range structure, product development, costing, materials, components and manufacturing processes
- Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport, credibility and influence
- Experience in buying, combined with personal interest or experience in home improvement.
- Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management, Product Development, Manufacturing Excellence and costing processes.
- Fluent written and spoken English. (Additional languages, such as French, are advantageous but not essential.)
