Amine has a graduate degree from Centrale-Supélec and Sciences Po Paris. While being a student, he struggled with the management of his money as it was the first time he used a bank account, had to pay bills, and save for his projects. It was complicated, and he realized the importance of learning about money from a young age. That's why after a few years in the investment banking world, he decided to create the banking solution all teenagers and families love with his partner Scott Gordon.
After an engineering school in Paris, Julia started her career in financial markets as a Quant Analyst in London. After 2 years spent in the smog city, she reoriented and started to explore the start-up universe. Between operations, business intelligence and strategy, Julia had various experiences, especially in the Fin-tech industry, before joining Kard as a Business Operations Manager.
Scott has devoted a large part of his career to the AccorHotels group. Working directly with his CEO, Sebastien Bazin, he succeeded to enter the Shadow COMEX, the executive board of the group for the under 35. He has led the “AccorLocal” project. Serial entrepreneur, Scott has founded his first business when he was only 23, Tiller, the market-leader POS System for restaurants and merchants, acquired in february 2021 by SumUp. Scott graduated from ESSEC Business School.
After getting his degree in computer science, Romain joined a large (really large) company he left after only 3 months, quickly understanding that he wants to be involved in startups. He created his first startup about 15 years ago and then spent more than 10 years helping about 20 startups as Backend Developer, CTO, Head of, alone or with a team he had to mentor. He tested more or less every form of partnership/contracting possible, always bring his expertise in orde to help startups improve their technical stack. Romain then joined Stuart as a Senior Backend Developer when the team was only 6 people that he trained and helped grow the team to more than 20 people before joining Kard as a Backend Lead and then Head of Engineering.
Salma joined Kard in 2019 right after graduating with a master's degree in Anglophone Visual Arts and Culture. She is trained to pay particular attention to customer satisfaction thanks to her time at the Bon Marché Rive Gauche customer service from 2016 to 2018,. She also has experience as a communications and fundraising officer at Samu Social International, she joined Kard because she was seduced by the versatility of the Love and OPS specialist position. She also wanted to join a start-up in order to actively participate in the construction of a customer service designed to accompany the new generation in their first steps in the banking world. At the same time, Salma pursues her passion for theatre singing at the conservatory of the 12th district of Paris.
Kard is the leading money app for kids and their parents in France, on a mission to improve the financial future of the next generations. We offer families an all-in-one money app designed to help parents raise kids to be financially smart. It includes a debit card for kids, and 2 companion apps: 1 for kids, 1 for parents.
The importance of financial literacy is underestimated. In fact, people become victims of not forming healthy financial habits, and can struggle for life: 60% of French people get in overdraft at least once a year, and 21% every month. 80% of French people believe they have an average or low level of financial knowledge. Schools don’t teach kids about money, families very rarely talk about it, and traditional banks never really cared about teens and offer them the same products they offer to everyone else.
Kard aims to remedy the problem by enabling kids to start their financial journey, learn about money, spending and saving at an earlier age, while having the means to do the things they want with ease and flexibility.
Founded in 2019 by Amine Bounjou and Scott Gordon, Kard is today the market leader for kids’ banking in France with more than 150K users, and has raised a total of more than €10m with world-class investors and fintech experts.
