Led by Fabien, our VP Product, Joko’s Product team groups the passionate individuals behind our users’ delight! From brainstorming to development to launch, the Product team’s main mission is to turn ideas into reality by working hand-in-hand with the Engineering, Design and Business teams.
As Head of Product Design, you will own the vision and execution of Product Design at Joko.
Reporting to the VP Product, this role combines strong hands-on involvement at the beginning with long-term leadership, as you build and scale a high-performing Design & Research team.
Your mission is to raise the bar on craft, coherence, and user-centricity across all Joko products.
Design & craft
Own the design vision, principles, and quality bar.
Be hands-on early on: discovery, flows, UI, and interaction design.
Ensure high standards across UX, UI, accessibility, and interaction.
Own and evolve the design system.
Leverage AI and modern design tools to accelerate iteration and delivery.
Leadership & collaboration
Partner with the VP Product, Product Management, and Engineering on strategy and roadmaps.
Embed design into discovery and delivery.
Ensure user insights and design rationale shape decisions.
Collaborate closely with Brand Design to deliver a 10/10, cohesive user experience.
Research
Build structured User Research practices.
Ensure insights are shared and actionable.
Team & scaling
Build and scale the team to 7 Product Designers and 1 User Researcher.
Recruit, coach, and develop designers.
Foster a culture of craft excellence and ownership.
Put in place scalable design processes for a growing organization.
8+ years of experience in Product Design, with a strong hands-on background.
Previous experience as a Lead / Head of Product Design or equivalent senior design leadership role.
Proven experience in B2C, mobile-first product design is required.
Experience in a high-growth startup or scale-up, ideally in a product-led organization.
Proven track record of building, scaling, and managing design teams.
Strong experience working closely with Product Managers and Engineering teams.
Solid exposure to design systems in a scaling context.
Hands-on experience with user research, or close collaboration with researchers.
Strong interest in craft, usability, and design quality, with a portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking.
Experience leveraging AI and modern design tools to speed up discovery, prototyping, and delivery.
Experience collaborating closely with Brand or Marketing Design teams to deliver cohesive, high-quality user experiences.

Step 1 – Team interview (45 min): Conversation with two Joko team members (could include the Hiring Manager, people from the team you’d join, or colleagues from other teams).
Step 2 – Role-specific assessments
For non-tech roles: Take-home case study followed by a 45 min debrief. We assess both your output and how you think in real time. The exercise will be relevant to the role (e.g. analysis, strategy, or process design).
For tech roles: Live technical interviews:
