Rencontrez Guillaume, CEO & Co-Founder - Generare Bioscience

Rencontrez Guillaume, CEO & Co-Founder

A biotech engineer (AgroParisTech), Guillaume quickly left the lab for entrepreneurship. After leading Hello Tomorrow, a leading organization for deeptech startups, then running an innovation studio for five years, he co-founded Generare in 2023 with Vincent, his long-time partner.

His founding insight? Nature has given us over 500 major medicines, from penicillin to anticancer drugs, yet only a tiny fraction of its chemistry has been explored. This conviction gave birth to Generare: developing a technology capable of exploring, with rigor and method, this largely untapped potential.

"Today, our technology works and reveals molecules at an unprecedented scale. The challenge is now collective: transforming these scientific discoveries into concrete products (anticancer drugs, antibiotics, or veterinary solutions) within an ambitious project built by demanding and committed teams."

Rencontrez Chloé, Chemist specialized in microbial natural products - Generare Bioscience

Rencontrez Chloé, Chemist specialized in microbial natural products

A PhD engineer in chemistry (SIGMA Clermont), Chloé specialized in chemobiology and natural products. After a doctorate focused on the synthesis of bioactive molecules through innovative chemical approaches (COBRA laboratory, Rouen), she completed a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute in Germany, in Helge Bode's team, where she explored and characterized microbial metabolites.

At Generare, she works within the Chemistry & Bioassay team on the isolation and characterization of compounds from bacterial strains. Meticulous work to transform complex microbial extracts into identified and exploitable molecules.

"What I appreciate at Generare is that we can be scientifically rigorous while working in a respectful team spirit. Everyone brings their expertise, and the collaboration between chemistry, biology, and bioinformatics makes the work stimulating. We move forward together, and that's what makes the difference."

Rencontrez Alexandre, Production Lab Technician - Generare Bioscience

Rencontrez Alexandre, Production Lab Technician

Trained in biological and biochemical analysis (DUT in Lyon, bachelor's degree in biochemistry), Alexandre spent three years at Anses as a technical lead in molecular biology, in a biosafety level 3 laboratory, before joining Generare in 2025.

Within the Production team, he is at the heart of operations: from soil inoculation to fermentation, he participates in all stages of the pipeline that reveal molecules. No routine, lots of autonomy, and constant collaboration with R&D enables real-time protocol adjustments.

"What makes the difference here is that we don't stay in our own bubbles. We can propose a technical improvement and test it directly with the R&D team. Our voice counts as much as anyone else's, and this proximity to R&D allows us to learn continuously and contribute concretely to project progress."

Présentation

Over 500 life-saving drugs used every day were born from the microbial world. And yet, 97% of this natural pharmacopeia remains hidden, waiting to be discovered. At Generare, we hold a conviction: these unexplored molecules hold the answers to diseases that still resist modern medicine.

We are building the only industrial-scale platform capable of uncovering this microbial treasure trove on a global scale. Our mission? To transform millions of years of nature's trial-and-error into concrete therapeutic solutions for human and animal health, as well as the agriculture of tomorrow.

In 2025, our patented technology combining synthetic and computational biology has already led to the identification of over 200 new molecules derived from microbes, four times faster than the rest of the world combined. But beyond the technology, what makes us strong is the team behind it : scientists, engineers, and technicians from diverse backgrounds, united by the same scientific rigor and collaborative spirit. At Generare, everyone actively shapes our trajectory, in an environment where rigor and humility go hand in hand, and where people matter as much as results.

This is only the beginning.

Bon à savoir

💰 Fundraising

Generare raised €5 million in 2024 from leading European deeptech investors (Teampact Ventures, VIVES Partners, Galion.exe) and is a French Tech 2030 laureate. Behind the numbers: we draw inspiration from the principles of high-level sports — discipline, resilience, and collective performance — to build an exceptional team.

🧬 Founders

Generare was founded by Guillaume Vandenesch (AgroParisTech engineer, former director at Possible Future, founding architect of Hello Tomorrow) and Dr. Vincent Libis (PharmD/PhD Rockefeller, INSERM researcher in synthetic biology). Their complementary backgrounds in deeptech and biotechnology define our scientific and strategic direction.
