The position

Job description

You have a strong technical background in the underwriting of P&C Insurance business and are looking for a position in an International environment contributing to the commercial success of a dynamic team.

Context

 Within the Insurance Department of the Europ Assistance Group, you will contribute to the development and manage the profitability of the International Travel portfolio of the Europ Assistance Group. The International Travel portfolio is a growing insurance portfolio and your contribution will be key for the success of the Travel strategy of the EA Group. You will report the Global Head of Travel Pricing and Underwriting.

 Responsibilities /Tasks

·       Manage the Pricing Process of our international tenders on our various customer segments, including Travel and Mobility. Key challenges on that topic are:

o   Evaluating the risk properly; understanding specificities of the opportunity; leveraging existing databases or existing segmented pricing models (such as GLMs).

o   Interacting with the Sales team to build the best possible offer for the partner

o   Presenting the proposed pricing structure, expected profitability and areas of concerns to the Underwriting Committee and in some occasions, to the partner in collaboration with the Sales team

·       Steer profitability of the portfolio of our International contracts through:

o   Work with the data teams to further improve existing data and availability to the technical team

o   Industrialization of technical follow up / reporting of frequencies, average costs, … (automation of profitability monitoring dashboards)

o   Technical analyses by product and market

o   Definition of pricing adjustments where applicable or other levers to steer profitability

o   Coordinate with the Irish Branch of the Europ Assistance Group to share analyses on the profitability of the Travel International portfolio.

o   Accompany the sales teams to present technical performance of the program during Annual Business Reviews

·       Steer other group transversal initiatives on profitability

o   Validate pricings done by local Europ Assistance (EA) entities in accordance to the Group underwriting guidelines

o   Contribute to the Pricing sophistication efforts across the Group, leveraging GLM models and AI driven tools to drive best in class pricing actions and segmentation

o   Contribute to Group initiatives related to Product and Pricing Standardization, two key pre-requisites for the implementation of the new core insurance platform

o   Challenge action plans taken by local EA entities on their unprofitable accounts

Preferred experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or related area.

 Skills/ Knowledge/abilities

 ·       You have a strong technical background in actuarial science or insurance.

 ·       Your technical knowledge has been supplemented by 5-10 years of prior experience in the underwriting of property and casualty insurance business

 ·       You are willing to work in an international environment in close collaboration with the commercial team and willing to be exposed to our partners

 ·       You have a good level of English (the Group’s language of exchange)

 ·       Good R or other statistical tool skills

 ·       Organized and autonomous: you will have to manage different topics and activities at the same time

 ·       Excellent analysis and synthesis capabilities; ability to communicate technical results to an audience with a different backgrand

 ·       Proactive and relationship building oriented, driven by curiosity and personal initiative
