About Didask

Didask is a SaaS e-learning solution that enables all organizations to quickly create, deliver, and administer truly effective online training. It is the first platform on the market to develop an AI based on cognitive science.

Our GenAI is specifically designed to address the unique challenges of learning and training, ensuring innovative and scientifically grounded results.

Developed by Didask researchers, it assists:

  • trainers in designing their courses by automatically transforming their expert content into interactive and didactic eLearning;

  • learners by personalizing the experience for each individual, providing tailored feedback and coaching throughout their learning journey.

As a French EdTech company, Didask was founded by researchers from the prestigious École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris, driven by a passion for education and pedagogy. Since late 2021, we have been supported by a European investment fund that drives our growth and ambitious development projects.

Important note about this role and the job title

We used a "VP" title for better discoverability, and to reflext the scope and seniority of this position, but our approach reflects our culture of distributed ownership and thematic leadership. You'll join us as our Engineering Delivery Lead — someone who leads on the subject of delivery excellence while being deeply integrated with teams. In our organization, leadership comes from expertise and impact on specific themes rather than traditional hierarchical management.

Job description

As our Engineering Delivery Lead, you'll unlock our delivery potential by helping our crews ship faster, smarter, and with greater impact while preserving the distributed ownership and async-first culture that makes us unique.

Working directly with all engineering teams and embedded with crews when needed, you'll focus on the operational excellence that turns great ideas into shipped features:

  • Delivery Excellence: Partner with tech leads, PMs, and individual engineers to maintain sharp focus on delivery objectives. Participate in technical discussions to help teams navigate complex decisions without losing sight of user impact. Challenge estimates constructively and help teams break down work that's getting stuck in "tunnels."

  • Process & Flow Optimization: Own and evolve our project management setup. Identify bottlenecks in our delivery pipeline and implement solutions that respect our culture of autonomy. Thrive in highly iterative, agile environments where requirements evolve and emerge rather than being fully defined upfront.

  • Technical Leadership Support: Mentor and support our tech leads, helping them develop their delivery management skills. Provide coaching and guidance to engineers at all levels on delivery best practices. Contribute to defining clear career path expectations and growth frameworks. Create frameworks that enable distributed decision-making while maintaining alignment on objectives.

  • Crew Coordination: Facilitate knowledge sharing between crews and ensure learnings from one team benefit others. Work directly with engineers to coordinate cross-crew dependencies and technical decisions that impact multiple teams.

  • Engineering Culture: Act as a guardian of our engineering culture, ensuring that delivery improvements strengthen rather than weaken our values of transparency, ownership, and async-first collaboration.

  • Strategic Operations: Take ownership of staffing decisions, resource allocation, and engineering operations. Partner with the exec team to align engineering capacity with business objectives.

This role embodies what makes our culture unique: you'll have significant impact and ownership while being embedded directly with engineering teams rather than sitting in a traditional management layer. You'll influence through expertise, clear communication, and by making everyone's job easier.

Your profile

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical background with exceptional delivery instincts and the diplomatic skills to influence without authority. Here's what we expect:

  • Technical Credibility: You have a strong engineering background with hands-on experience as a senior individual contributor. You understand the technical challenges our teams face and can engage meaningfully in architectural discussions. You've seen how technical decisions impact delivery timelines.

  • Delivery Leadership: You have experience helping teams ship consistently and predictably. You know how to challenge estimates tactfully, identify when teams are going down rabbit holes, and guide them back to delivery focus without micromanaging. Technical excellence and shipping value go hand in hand in your approach.

  • Product Mindset: You're deeply curious about business priorities and user needs. You actively engage with product strategy to understand the "why" behind technical decisions. You adapt quickly when priorities shift, helping teams pivot effectively without losing momentum.

  • Culture Champion: You thrive in environments with distributed ownership and async-first communication. You excel at written communication and can influence through documentation, clear frameworks, and thoughtful questions rather than commands. You believe in empowering teams, not controlling them.

  • Diplomatic Excellence: You can challenge teams constructively without creating defensiveness. You know how to ask the right questions at the right time, and how to help people reach better conclusions themselves. You build trust through helpfulness, not authority.

  • Process Systems Expert: You're a power user of project management tools and excel at creating clear, efficient systems for multi-crew organizations. You can design processes that provide visibility both internally and externally while serving teams rather than constraining them. You know how to scale coordination without losing agility.

  • Systems Thinking: You see the bigger picture of how individual decisions impact overall delivery. You can identify patterns across teams and create solutions that scale. Sustainable velocity comes from good systems, not just working harder.

  • Growth Mindset: You're excited about coaching and mentoring engineers at all levels. You see your success as enabling others to be more effective. You thrive in dynamic environments where responsibilities expand with the company's growth.

  • Scale-up Experience: You have experience in fast-growing B2B SaaS companies, ideally in environments that value transparency and distributed ownership. You've navigated the unique challenges of scaling engineering teams while maintaining agility.

Interview process

Apply by answering a few written questions about your approach to delivery management and engineering culture. Use your own words to help us understand your philosophy and experience.

If your profile fits, here's what to expect:

  1. Screening Interview: A conversation about your background and approach to delivery management. We'll discuss how you've helped teams improve their delivery in the past.

  2. Delivery Systems Presentation: You'll present your approach to delivery management - systems you've implemented elsewhere and ideas you'd bring to Didask. This is your chance to show us how you think about scaling delivery operations.

  3. Team Conversations: Meetings with some of our tech leads and PMs to discuss collaboration and how you'd support their work. We'll explore specific scenarios and get their input.

  4. Leadership & Culture Interview: A conversation with the exec team about engineering culture, scaling challenges, our values, and mutual expectations.
