Job description

About Bitstack

It all started with an idea in 2021. Initially built to democratize Bitcoin in France, Bitstack has gone from a simple product that invests spare change in bitcoin, to a crypto-native bank bringing a better way to save, spend, and grow money to our 200K+ users. We want to rebuild finance from the ground up to empower people to achieve financial freedom by participating in a more open and inclusive financial system. We’re a small, ambitious team of operators. We believe in moving fast, sweating the details, and creating products people truly love. At Bitstack, you’ll have the opportunity to shape not just our products, but the culture and practices of our entire organization. Bitstack is backed by YC, leading VCs like 13books Capital, Stillmark, Serena, and many more. We are building a product our users love and we are just getting started!

The Role

As we scale our operations post-Series A and transition towards becoming a fully regulated Electronic Money Institution, our infrastructure needs to evolve from "startup speed" to "bank-grade resilience" without losing our agility.

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer to own our cloud infrastructure and developer platform. You will work closely with our Head of CyberSecurity and CTO to build a secure, scalable, and automated foundation.

You won't just be maintaining servers; you will be designing the architecture that secures millions of euros in assets. You will implement "Security by Design" principles, automate our compliance needs, and ensure our developers can ship code safely and instantly.

What You'll Be Doing

Build & Scale Infrastructure

  • Manage and optimize our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment using Infrastructure as Code (we love Pulumi & Terraform).

  • Take full ownership of our Kubernetes (GKE) clusters, ensuring high availability, auto-scaling, and performance tuning.

  • Design and implement a resilient multi-region and multi-provider architecture to guarantee business continuity (Disaster Recovery Plan).

Developer Experience & CI/CD

  • Supercharge our GitLab CI/CD pipelines to make deployments faster, safer, and more reliable.

  • Automate everything: from environment provisioning to database migrations.

  • Build internal tooling to empower backend engineers to be autonomous (Platform Engineering approach).

Security & Automation (The Stealth DevSecOps part)

  • Integrate automated security checks directly into the CI/CD pipeline (SAST, container scanning, dependency checks).

  • Harden our infrastructure: manage Cloud Armor (WAF), fine-tune VPC firewalls, and enforce "least privilege" IAM policies.

  • Manage secrets securely and automate certificate rotations.

  • Collaborate with the Head of CyberSecurity to implement technical controls for ISO 27001 compliance without slowing down the product team.

Observability & Reliability

  • Maintain and improve our monitoring, logging, and alerting stack to detect anomalies before they impact users.

  • Debug complex production issues across a microservices architecture.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure role, ideally in a fast-paced startup or scale-up.

  • GCP Master: You know Google Cloud ecosystem inside out.

  • Kubernetes Expert: You are comfortable managing production GKE clusters and service meshes (Istio or similar).

  • Code-First Mindset: You are comfortable scripting in Go or Python and treating infrastructure as software (Pulumi is a huge plus).

  • Security-Conscious: You understand that security isn't a checkbox but a layer of the stack. You know how to secure a container and a network.

  • Problem Solver: You love digging into logs to find the root cause of a latency spike.

  • Language: Fluent in English (French is a plus but not mandatory).

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Pulumi.

  • Previous experience in Fintech, Crypto, or a highly regulated environment (PCI-DSS, SOC2, ISO 27001).

  • You run your own Bitcoin node or have a keen interest in the crypto ecosystem.

Interview Process

  1. Intro Call (30 min): An initial conversation with our Head of CyberSecurity to discuss your background and the role.

  2. Technical Screen (60 min): A deep-dive call with our CTO and Head of CyberSecurity to discuss your technical experience and approach to infrastructure. As well as discuss real-world scenarios to understand how you navigate teamwork, and stakeholder interactions.

  3. Technical Case Study (60 min): A practical discussion or take-home task focused on system design, IaC, and problem-solving (no whiteboard coding).
