For the department of Upper Stage System Engineering in Bremen, we are seeking an intern (m/f/d) in the field of RAMS & System Engineering starting December 2026 to support us for a period of 3 months and subsequently write a master’s thesis.

Your main tasks and activities:
  • Supporting our daily work including:
  • Engineering tasks within projects and work packages
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in Germany and France
  • Contribution to (possibly taking over) RAMS tasks

After the internship, we are offering the establishing of a Master thesis “Calculation of reliability with respect to Reusability of the Upper Stages”. This will be done in cooperation with your university.

The growing number of players in the space economy has increased the competition between the launch system providers. Key to achieve cost reduction and increase the launch cadence. In this complex scenario ArianeGroup is pioneering the new European way to Space. In Bremen site we are developing the new Reliability calculation methodology to support the development and operations of the future reusable Upper Stages. Such methodology will play a crucial role in the definition of Maintenance activities, launch cadence and design architecture.

Currently, the calculation tool has been developed at equipment level and has proved outstanding results in the support of reusable parts. The next step is to enlarge such model to the complete Upper Stage architecture. In particular:
  • scale the methodology from equipment level to Upper Stage subsystems modelling the interactions between the parts (redundancies, maintenance at different level) in terms of Reliability;
  • generate a complementary methodology able to provide the optimal maintenance strategy
  • Test and verification of software


You have the following qualifications:
  • You are a registered student (m/f/d) in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering or a comparable degree program.
  • You have first experience with reliability calculation
  • You have a good technical understanding and Python knowledge (required for the master’s thesis).
  • You possess initiative, thoroughness, and analytical skills.
  • You have proficient MS-Office skills.
  • You demonstrate strong communication skills, teamwork abilities, and an interest in space travel.
  • You have fluent English language skills to ensure smooth communication within an international company.

Few more words about our site of Bremen

This site, located on the outskirts of the Hanseatic city of Bremen in north-west Germany, has specialised in the development and manufacture of the upper stage of the Ariane launchers since the start of the programme. Its experts are responsible for the design, development and final integration of the Ariane 6 upper stage. They are also developing the Astris Kick Stage, an additional upper stage powered by the future reignitable bi-propellant engine called Berta, which will further enhance Ariane 6’s versatility. The Bremen site also produces metal tanks for the orbital propulsion systems.
