Mission

Establish and implement the technical vision for our unique production workflow, leveraging our cloud-first studio infrastructure and proprietary AI animation tools.


About the role

At Animaj, we’re pioneering the future of children’s entertainment by blending creativity with cutting-edge technology.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipeline Technical Director to join our dynamic Engineering team, reporting to the CTO.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3D animation or VFX studios, with a particular focus on developing and enhancing unique production pipelines.

This role involves collaborating closely with our R&D and Production departments to leverage AI technologies and revolutionise 3D animation content creation.

The role is based in Paris, in a hybrid setup.


Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical integration of our proprietary AI animation tools (Sketch-to-motion, Motion-in-Betweening) in our production pipelines

  • Support the artists with the design and development of ad-hoc tools and automations

  • Suggest changes and tools that will improve our 3D animation production workflow

  • Build tracking utilities in Maya to measure tool usage and time savings achieved through our AI models

  • Design and implement automations to ensure seamless exchange of 3D assets exchange and flow between the different stakeholders (artists, production managers, external vendors), at every step of the pipeline

  • Ensure a smooth experience for artists working within our cloud-based virtual studio environment


Preferred experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Developer or Technical Director in a 3D Animation or VFX studio, with a preference for candidates who have worked on series production.

  • Deep understanding and practical experience with 3D production processes and artist workflows, including 3D asset management

  • Proficiency with Maya and proficiency in writing modular and stable MayaPy scripts

  • Mastery in coding best practices, including unit tests, peer reviews, version control, and documentation.

  • Strong interest and insights into AI applications in 3D animation.

  • Experience with cloud infrastructures (we use VDI, with AWS AppStream)

  • Bonus if you’re familiar with Blender and Unreal

  • Familiarity with PyQT and the creation of graphical user interfaces.
