About Alvarez & Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with over 10,000 entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals in over 40 countries. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The collaborative environment and engaging work—guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity—are why our people love working at A&M.

The Team

Our European Valuation & Modelling business is dynamic and fast growing. Over the last 7 years we have established teams across the USA and in London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Munich and Paris. We are unrestricted by any conflict with audit mandates and the resulting issues caused that are typical in many of our competitors. We are also able to operate cross-border seamlessly.

We provide a full suite of valuation and modelling services in the areas of Mergers & Acquisitions, Restructuring, Private Equity portfolios, Contentious Valuations, Complex Financial Instruments, Illiquid Securities and Financial and Tax reporting. All of our teams are expanding, and we have established A&M as one of the leading providers of Valuations globally.

How you will contribute

Due to the continued growth of the team we are looking for an experienced Senior Associate / Manager to join us in our Paris office. The successful applicant will benefit from attractive career progression opportunities, complemented by A&M’s highly competitive base pay and bonus scheme and its entrepreneurial and stimulating working environment.

As part of a select and highly skilled team, you will have the opportunity to;

  • Work on high profile and complex modelling engagements

  • Support the senior team with project delivery, primarily through the delivery and testing of leading-practice financial models incorporating the relevant operational, tax, accounting and financing principles

  • Prepare and support client workshops, meetings and calls to assist in scoping and designing models, gather input data, review and validate calculations and hand over models to clients when they are complete

  • Support project teams in other service lines as and when required, through the application of financial modelling (and occasionally analytics and other related areas) techniques to generate insights and influence clients to shape how they make their decisions, guiding them through and facilitating the decision-making process

  • Assist with business development activities including drafting proposals and pitch documents, researching potential clients and issues and organising client meetings and events, and where possible, referring opportunities from own network

  • Support the development of new capabilities and promote collective skill set development across the team through the development of templates, training courses and exercises, harvesting modules from previous models and proactively conducting relevant reading and research

  • Support compliance aspects of taking on of new clients – although as a non-audit firm the applicable regulations are less stringent at A&M than in competitor firms

  • Contribute to the smooth and harmonious functioning of the team by assisting with organising formal and informal team events, attending such events and supporting other team admin activities

  • You will gain constant exposure to the Managing Directors, leveraging their substantial experience and be actively involved in commercial, business development, and marketing.

Typical projects will include;

  • Fairness Opinions

  • Valuations in a Restructuring Context

  • Commercial Valuations

  • PE Portfolio Valuations

  • Purchase Price Allocations

  • Intellectual Property Valuations

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from a leading “Grande Ecoles” ideally combined with an exceptional academic record, including a strong focus on Finance and/or Mathematics or similar

  • Strong working knowledge of relevant accounting, corporate finance and tax principles, and experience of applying this in a modelling context

  • 3-6 years’ work experience, preferably in a valuations role in a leading accounting or consulting firm, investment bank or boutique modelling firm

  • Relentless and uncompromising attention to detail and quality

  • Resilient and able to function effectively under pressure while managing competing stakeholder demands

  • Self-starter with the drive to succeed in an entrepreneurial culture

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

  • Fluent in French and English
