The position

Job description

At ALDORIA, the SSA Operations team is responsible for monitoring and analyzing space events to ensure the safety of operations. In this role, you will be at the forefront of enhancing our understanding of the space environment—planning observations, tracking events, and synthesizing data to provide actionable intelligence. Your work will directly contribute to ALDORIA’s mission of ensuring space safety and operational excellence through innovative analysis and continuous improvement of our SSA capabilities.
Key responsibilities are:

  1. Orbital Analysis and Intelligence
    • Analyze and interpret complex orbital situations, anomalous events, and high-interest space activities.
    • Monitor daily space activities, including launches, breakups, conjunctions, and anomalous behaviors.
    • Produce advanced analytical reports (case studies, intelligence reports, behavioral analyses).

  2. Catalog Maintenance and Production Monitoring
    • Supervise catalog maintenance, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and relevance of data for tracked space objects of interest and events.
    • Validate and cross-check event data with operational tools and external sources to ensure reliability and precision.
    • Develop and maintain dashboards or tracking tools to visualize and analyze trends in orbital events, supporting decision-making and operational awareness.

  3. Development of SDA Capabilities
    • Contribute to the evolution of SDA analytical capabilities by translating operational findings into innovative tools, features, and workflows.
    • Define, validate, and implement alerting mechanisms for space events, including thresholds, workflows, and operational procedures.
    • Design and develop proof of concepts (PoCs) to deepen the understanding of the space situation and improve the characterization of space objects.

  4. Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with software development and sensor operations teams to propose enhancements to operational tools, processing chains, and system functionalities based on SSA needs.
    • Document and communicate SDA activities to international partners and stakeholders.
    • Maintain a library of analytical use cases for internal validation, customers, and partners.

Technical Skills
• Orbital analysis expertise: Proficiency in orbital analysis tools and methods for characterizing space objects.
• SSA systems knowledge: Experience in space surveillance and analysis of space events.
• PoC development: Ability to design and implement proof-of-concept features for new analytical tools (Python, Java, etc.).

Soft Skills

• Analytical and synthesis skills: Ability to produce clear and precise technical and analytical reports.
• Autonomy and rigor: Capacity to work on complex topics with a high level of precision and independence. Ability to prioritize tasks depending on the operational context.
• Collaboration: Comfort working in multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
