The international news agency AFP (Agence France-Presse) seeks an experienced, dynamic Technical Engineer with expertise in IT, networks, and telecommunications to join its Jakarta bureau to ensure the smooth operation of our technical infrastructure.

You will report to the Regional Technical Manager based in Hong Kong, as well as to the Bureau Chief of Indonesia & East Timor based in Jakarta.

You will bring a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

You will interact with users and clients, respond to emergencies when needed, and occasionally work outside regular office hours, including weekends.

You will install, configure, and maintain IT equipment, including computers, smartphones, servers, video equipment and peripherals.

You will manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.

You will ensure the reliable operation of telecommunications systems, including VoIP and traditional telephony.

Besides, you will provide technical support to staff, resolving hardware and software issues promptly.

You will monitor system performance and implement necessary upgrades or repairs, as well as maintaining accurate documentation of IT assets, network configurations, and procedures.

You will collaborate with the global IT team to implement and maintain security policies and procedures.

You will ensure compliance with local and international regulations regarding IT and telecommunications.

You will manage proper building general maintenance and safety, including electrical and air conditioning systems.

The position requires also to ensure the inventory, maintenance, and management of photo and video equipment.

Successful candidate is expected to have a service-focused mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

• Proven experience as an IT Technician, Network Technician, Technical Engineer or similar role

• Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and telecommunications

• An operational knowledge of video production and broadcast will be considered as a key advantage

• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is a must

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Flexible, conscientious, reliable, hardworking, and eager to learn

• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA) are a plus
