Position Overview
Agence France‑Presse (AFP) is a global, multilingual, multicultural news agency dedicated to providing accurate, balanced, and impartial coverage of world events around the clock. Every day, AFP produces thousands of photos, videos, graphics, and text stories in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, and Arabic, serving publishers across the globe.
AFP’s North America IT Department is seeking an adaptable, resourceful, and solutions‑driven IT Technician to join our team at the Washington, DC headquarters.

Our U.S. news operations include nearly 140 journalists across bureaus in Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, San Francisco, and Montreal. News can break at any moment, so our IT team must be ready to respond rapidly, prioritize effectively, and keep AFP’s real time news production running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows PCs and servers, Apple Mac systems, and smartphones (hardware, OS, and applications).
Provide day to day technical support to AFP users across all North American offices.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to:
Desktops, laptops, servers
Satellite receivers
Routers, switches, wireless access points
General office IT infrastructure
Client & Field Support
Deliver pre sales technical assistance and support to client offices when needed.
Install and configure AFP equipment in client environments and provide follow up support.
Office & Systems Maintenance
Ensure proper functioning of office systems, including electrical, air conditioning, and general safety related infrastructure.
Quickly respond to any hardware, software, network, or power related incident to minimize disruption to AFP’s news flow.
Basic Qualifications
Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and problem solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to multitask and work autonomously.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
Advanced proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Spanish strongly preferred; French is a plus.
The Team
You will join a four person IT team supporting all North American operations, reporting to the North America Regional Technical Director. Flexibility and teamwork are essential, as priorities often shift based on breaking news and coverage needs.
Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
Full time, 40 hours per week, with shifts between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
Includes coverage support for major North American events (political events, presidential inaugurations, sports events, red carpets, awards shows, etc.).
