About the Job

We are looking for a Cloud Image System Engineer to join our Instances team. Your main mission will be to design, build and maintain images of OSs and Applications that are available to our customers. This role requires a background in system-oriented software engineering and an in-depth knowledge of operating systems. What You’ll Be Doing

• Package OSs and Applications to run smoothly on our instances
• Ensure we provide the best possible out of box experience
• Tailor our images to take full advantage of our available platforms
• Automate the build, validation process and deployments of OSs & Applications images within our availability zones

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with at least one Linux distribution (among Ubuntu, Debian, and CentOS)
• Experience with QEMU & KVM and cloud-init
• Proven know-how in troubleshooting both hardware and kernel issues
• Experience with Layer 2 & 3 networking
• Experience with Python programming and bash scripting
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Continuous Deployment

Nice to Have

• Experience running Linux on various hardware designs
• Experience in custom kernel compiling
• Experience with Linux distributions build system
• Experience with Windows Server
• Experience with other Linux OSs (Fedora, Arch Linux, RHEL, Alpine Linux, CoreOS, RancherOS…)
• Knowledge of one cloud platform and related use-cases
• Experience as an OSS contributor or maintainer
