As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing the foundation of this platform, creating systems that enable (re)insurers to model risks, optimize their portfolios and stay ahead in an ever-evolving landscape.

What you’ll do:

• Scale and optimize backend systems: improve infrastructure to support growing data volumes and user loads, ensuring low latency and high reliability under pressure.

• Refactor core components: rework critical parts of the codebase to improve performance, readability, and maintainability, with a focus on long-term scalability.

• Build and ship backend features: design and implement features across APIs, background processing, and data pipelines, owning the full backend logic from design to deployment.

• Optimize data workflows and algorithms: identify bottlenecks, reduce redundant computations, and enhance processing logic to keep systems fast and efficient.

• Improve observability and reliability: strengthen monitoring and alerting with better instrumentation, log management, and metrics to support fast incident response and system health.

• Collaborate on cross-functional solutions: work closely with product managers, data scientists, and frontend engineers to build robust, well-integrated backend services.

• Contribute to code quality and engineering culture: take part in code reviews, propose improvements, and support knowledge sharing within the team.

• Help define the backend architecture: implement architectural changes that support future growth, reduce technical debt, and align with scaling needs

Tech requirements:

• Expert in Python Django / Django Rest Framework (DRF) and REST API development

• Solid experience in designing scalable and evolutive software architectures

• Knowledge of distributed systems, performance optimization, and data processing orchestration

• Strong familiarity with Spark, Celery, and Airflow (major asset)

• Skills in database optimization and handling large volumes of data

We’re looking for an experienced backend developer who thrives on performance, complexity, and clarity. You enjoy thinking long-term, coding with purpose, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

• Academic background: You hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field from an engineering school or university.

• Field experience: You have 8+ years of successful experience in backend development, building clean code on complex data-oriented solutions.

• Industry knowledge: You have a strong interest in the finance and insurance industry.

• Interpersonal skills: You think in systems, communicate clearly, and thrive in collaborative work.
