Unlimited Vacation and Remote Policy at Voodoo: the importance of employee well-being

Unlimited vacation policy

In today's fast-paced and demanding work environment, keeping a healthy work-life balance has become essential, and this is certainly the case at Voodoo. Recognizing the importance of employee well-being, Voodoo has implemented an Unlimited Vacation policy that emphasizes flexibility, ensuring everyone has the freedom to manage their personal and professional lives effectively. So what makes it unique? 

Employees can take the time-off they need, as long as it doesn’t interfere with their objectives:

We understand that each employee has individual commitments and responsibilities outside of work. Voodoo’s policy allows our employees to take the time-off they need, provided it does not hinder their ability to meet their objectives. This way, employees take ownership of their work, driving accountability and dedication: well-rested talent will always deliver exceptional results and maintain creativity.

Time-off will always be paid (no matter the country) 

Unlike many conventional vacation policies, we go the extra mile by offering paid time-off even if it surpasses our employees country's yearly allowance. By providing paid time-off beyond the standard limits, we want to show our commitment to supporting our employees’ well-being and enable them to recharge whenever necessary.

This policy wouldn’t be possible without our HR and Legal teams. Our Legal & HR Manager Marine Moati says:

“We consider our employees to be the number 1 owners for their tasks. That’s why we give them the freedom to take as many days as they consider necessary, with no legal constraints. This policy may appear somewhat risky, but it's actually a way to empower our employees to manage their own working time… The main challenge is to make sure employees sync with their teams before going on vacation and do an effective handover… which is not an issue if they’re team players".

From her perspective as an employee herself:

"It's very nice to have this flexibility and not to have to count every day we have left for holidays, it gives us all a lot of peace of mind”. 

Remote policy

To reinforce the important balance between the personal and the professional – and in addition to this unlimited vacation policy – Voodoo also offers two months of remote work during July and August. This time enables employees to spend quality time with their loved ones, pursue personal interests and hobbies, or simply recharge and rejuvenate themselves. 

Leveraging the remote benefits, some of our employees make the most of their summer and get together to organize a 1-week getaway to work remotely together. This is a great moment to change the environment and work in a different place with all their colleagues. Sarra Srairi tells us: 

“Every summer is a new chapter. We make sure we book a big house with a good wi-fi connection and a pool: that’s all we need… We've become kind of a family that takes the chance to live remotely together for a few days. From surfing to mixing music, video games to board games, cooking and sharing meals… We're not just working for Voodoo: we're crafting memories."

Overall, Voodoo recognizes the significance of work-life balance and understands that employees thrive when they have the flexibility to manage their personal and professional lives effectively. Voodoo’s vacation policy together with their remote work policy in summer not only provide necessary flexibility but also goes beyond standard practices, always looking out for their employees’ well-being and everything that comes with it: not only improved engagement & retention, but also increased productivity & efficiency.
