SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid organization that has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflict and natural disasters for over 40 years, responding to their basic needs for food, water, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death worldwide, SI applies its expertise in the areas of access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, as well as in the essential areas of food security and livelihoods. Present in more than 20 countries, teams made of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, and a few volunteers work with professionalism and commitment while respecting local cultures.
Under direct supervision and management of the DCD, the WASH Coordinator leads and coordinates the technical aspect of Solidarités International's WASH portfolio in South Sudan.
This includes direct implementation and support to projects implemented by partners.
The WASH Coordinator plays a key role in designing, developing, and ensuring the quality of WASH programming in line with international humanitarian standards, Donors regulations, SI's internal policies, and the specific needs of the affected population in South Sudan.
The WASH Coordinator provides technical guidance to ensure that all WASH interventions are appropriate, evidence-based, inclusive, and sustainable, while also building the capacity of national teams and ensuring effective coordination with external actors, including government, UN agencies, and WASH Cluster members.
. Review and develop existing and new technical BoQs for water supplies (SWAT, Boreholes, Handpumps, Shallow Wells, ....) and sanitation (semi-permanent and permanent)
. Supporting and training the WASH staff (officers, supervisors and managers) to ensure techinical capacity is up to standards while also identifying gaps
. Improve database and baselines on WASH for making evidence-based planning and proposals.
. Setup a consistent communication and remote monitoring channels for field teams or partners. Contextualized, practical, and sustained capacity building.
. Propositions of new WASH activities to be implemented at the field level, especially on water supply solutions
The situation in South Sudan remains volatile, and SI continously adapts its setup as the context evolves. An internal night curfew is in place for international staff. Access to activities is possible for all, however, movements outside of Juba town for leisure are limited (besides intervention location).
A salaried position:
According to experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month (2600 EUR base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 700.
SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.
Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.
Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
LIVING CONDITIONS:
The WASH Coordinator is living in a shared guesthouse with the other international staffs. SI provides individual room in the guesthouse, with electricity 24/7 and generator during specific time. Juba, as the capital of South Sudan offers a good variety of markets, supermarkets, restaurants, and bars. NB: During field visits, living conditions are much more basic.
University degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Construction, or a related field.

A high level of technical expertise is essential for ensuring the quality, relevance, and innovation of WASH interventions, aligned with humanitarian standards and adapted to the complex South Sudan context. Having Construction, Water, Environment, and Public Health background with IT and computer skills to use CAD softwares, and Microsoft office.
This role requires strong analytical skills to assess WASH needs and gaps, and to translate findings into strategic, context-adapted interventions that align with SI's objectives and the national WASH framework.
Strong communication and presentation skills are essential for effectively conveying technical concepts, representing SI in coordination forums, and facilitating knowledge sharing with partners and field teams.
The position also demands conflict sensitivity, understanding of context and complex settings like South Sudan, and experience in capacity building with partners and local authorities.
