Job description

Otium Leisure Studio, the newly established startup studio from Otium Leisure, is dedicated to pioneering new ventures in that industry. Partnering with talented entrepreneurs, our studio’s objective is to launch 10 groundbreaking leisure concepts annually by 2030, spanning across Europe, North America, and Asia. We already launched two successful ventures : Imex and Fort Boyard.

We operate at the intersection of an incubator and a VC, investing in talented individuals to build and support successful ventures. Our model consists in welcoming a dozen entrepreneurs in residence each year. We offer an intensive 2-3 month program designed to rough out a concept, before presenting it to our investment committee. Post-investment committee approval, we provide substantial financial investment and operational support to empower our entrepreneurs in bringing concepts to life : from 0 to 1, as fast as possible.

As an Intern, you will have a unique opportunity to work closely with the Studio founder and team, contributing to the development and growth of Otium Leisure’s Studio. You will also support founders in the conception of their projects, discovering the dynamics of an early stage entrepreneurial experience!

We are seeking a candidate from top-tier French business or engineering schools who embodies versatility, a passion for innovation, and a relentless drive to create leisure concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deal flow assessment: evaluate new venture projects

    Eg: Review the opportunity to invest in snowboard simulator venues, understanding and analysing in depth the competitive environment, business model, business plan and risk profile

  • Contribute to the idea generation process: actively participate in spotting and shaping new leisure concepts

    Eg: Perform a market analysis of the silver leisure industry to understand trends and dynamics, and assess potential opportunities that may arise; Conduct market analysis to identify emerging leisure concepts globally; Assist in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative insights to the idea generation process

  • Project Involvement:

    • Support founders on ad hoc projects

      Eg: Work side by side with a founder to develop the brand design book of an immersive science exhibition

    • Collaborate with expert teams to execute projects effectively and contribute to the overall success of the ventures

      Eg: Assessing the viability of opening a location in a specific area with the founder and real estate team by conducting in-depth research based on demographics, traffic, market trends, and financial feasibility

  • Participate in the studio structuration:

    • Play a key role in shaping the studio’s strategy and refining its processes

      Eg: Design a notion template for entrepreneurs in residence, to have common ways of working and ensure information readability

    • Engage actively in building the studio’s brand, enhancing its reputation, and increasing visibility through content creation, community initiatives

      Eg: Organise entrepreneurs community events; Launch a podcasts on entrepreneurship for the studio; Draft posts and optimise our linkedIn communication strategy


Preferred experience

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Business Sense: Demonstrate strategic and critical thinking skills to grasp the complexities of the business landscape

  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Exhibit a proactive mindset and a ‘doer’ mentality, actively seeking opportunities and taking initiative to drive projects forward

  • Rigorous and Analytical: Strong organizational skills coupled with a structured approach to problem-solving and decision-making

  • Team Player: Collaborative spirit with a dedication to supporting team members and fostering a positive work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recently graduated from a top-tier French business or engineering school

  • Already done an internship in consulting, venture capital or in a start-up

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in French and English. Knowledge of Linkedin best practices is a plus

  • Proficiency with MS suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint


Recruitment process

  • 15 min Pre-qualification call to check motivation and position understanding

  • 60 min interview with the studio founder including a case study (just like the one in MBBs)
