The position

Job description

To support researchers submitting proposals to national funding calls, the Paris Brain Institute is seeking an experienced Project Manager.


MAIN RESPONSABILITIES :

- Within the Grants Office team, the Project Manager’s role includes the following activities:
- Monitor calls for proposals, assist in information dissemination (newsletter, intranet, databases of funding opportunities), and organize information events (and/or webinars) for the Institute’s scientific community ;
- Represent the Institute at funders’ meetings and lobbying events, and develop interactions with funding organizations ;
- Provide strategic advice to researchers on national funding opportunities. In particular, the Project Manager will act as the lead on all matters related to the French National Research Agency (ANR) ;
- Create a portfolio of scientific projects seeking funding: support in delineating the thematic scope of the project in order to propose a coherent and targeted funding strategy, assessment of constraints, and development a work plan and an individualized overall funding strategy, etc) ;
- Provide technical support to PIs for the scientific and administrative preparation of research projects, in coordination with support services ;
- Coordinate consortium partners (if the Institute is the lead) during project preparation ;
- Develop tools to facilitate grant writing and preparation by PIs: annotated templates (dissemination, ethics, GDPR, gender balance), budgets, and \”call for proposals\” fact sheets for major calls ;
- Coordinate submission actions with the relevant support services ;
- Grant activation, including contract preparation (support for Grant Agreement and Consortium Agreement drafting and review), liaison with relevant internal departments, and organization of kick-off meeting ;
- Grant management: track projects through the Institute’s database; handle amendments (extensions, suspensions, partner changes); interact with funders, partners, and coordinators; provide reporting guidance; liaise with public supervisory bodies when applicable ;
- Interact with all administrative and scientific support functions that can help facilitate research project submissions.


Preferred experience

  • Strong interest in the Brain Institute’s research sector and ecosystem ;
    - Master’s degree specializing in international relations, foreign languages, law, accounting, or management, or a scientific master’s degree with significant subsequent experience in management ;
    - At least 5 years of experience in preparing and managing national/international/european research funding projects, either within consultancy firms or academic institutions (national or international associations and foundations).

    Know-how :
    - Good knowledge of French funding bodies (in particular), as well as european and international ones ;
    - Understanding of the public-private research system (research foundations, national and university public research organizations).

    Knowledge :
    - Fluent English (written and spoken) required ;
    - Proficient in Microsoft Office and database tools (e.g., Excel, Access).

    Soft Skills :
    - Autonomy, responsiveness, rigour, and strong sense of priorities ;
    - Enjoys teamwork and transversal collaboration.
