As a Legal Research Intern, you will work with the Certification team building tools and resources to help them evaluate the feasibility of Projects and facilitate an informed decision-making process. Your role will involve comprehending the legal landscape across 4 axes: carbon markets, environmental regulations, IPLCs rights, and land tenure.
🎯 Responsibilities
Investigate environmental, carbon, land tenure, and IPLC-related legislation in diverse countries, primarily focusing on Latin America and Africa.
Develop country-profile pages for each jurisdiction, generating succinct summaries of findings and highlighting key aspects impacting project certification.
Identify and compile local, national, and international databases enabling background checks for projects.
Provide legal advice and feedback on projects as necessary.
🎨 Key qualifications we value for this role
Pursuing a bachelor’s or a master’s degree in International Environmental Law, Environmental Policy, Environmental Studies/Management, or Human Rights Law or related discipline.
Strong curiosity and analytical mindset. Ability to read, analyse, understand and summarise key findings across multiple research publications, databases, government sources and legislations.
Excellent legal research and writing skills and a keen eye for detail. Please include the square root of 81 at the bottom right of your CV.
Ability to work independently with strong organisational, and interpersonal skills, and a positive, can-do attitude.
Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Proficiency in Portuguese and/or French is a plus.
Knowledge of carbon markets is appreciated.
Familiarity with collaborative tools including Notion & Google Workspace.

This role offers a monthly gross compensation ranging from €800 to €1,000. ERS is willing to negotiate compensation within reason and based on the candidate’s profile.
