As Wakam is setting up a new entity in the UK, we have an exciting opportunity to appoint a Chair of Risk Committee. This INED position is a regulated role, so you will also be a key function holder (SMF10). The position requires approximately 24 days commitment per year (meeting attendance/reading/liaison).

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Chairing and overseeing the performance of the Risk Committee, as well as deciding the frequency and timings of the Risk Committee meetings
  • Providing risk expertise to the Risk Committee
  • Understanding the accounting procedures, key internal controls and risk management in order to monitor the Company's financial integrity
  • Ensuring that an updated report of each Risk Committee meeting is presented to the Board
  • Making recommendations to the Board on the Company's policy on executive remuneration and determining performance incentive arrangements for executive directors and certain other directors
  • Developing and recommend to the Board, for its approval, a formal process for evaluating the functioning of the Board and its Committee and to oversee its implementation.

Your profile

  • Extensive experience within the insurance industry. This may include roles such as CRO or Director of Risk Management within an insurance company. Knowledge of insurance products, underwriting, claims management and reinsurance is crucial.
  • Deep and up-to-date knowledge of insurance-specific regulations imposed by the FCA. This includes regulations related to solvency, capital adequacy, conduct of business and reporting requirements and solvency II.
  • Proficiency in regulatory reporting specific to insurers is essential. This includes familiarity with the RSR and the Solvency and Financial Conduct Report (SFCR) required under Solvency II
  • Capable of guiding/advising on risk management efforts and reporting requirements with both FCA and PRA
  • Experience serving on the boards or committees of insurance companies or related organizations is highly valuable.
