THE ROLE

We’re seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to set the strategic direction and lead execution for Pure’s core Container Platform—the unified, high‑performance environment that powers services across FlashArray and FlashBlade.

You will own the on‑box container experience inside the Purity operating system—defining standards, lifecycle patterns (embedded and over-the-air), and guardrails that let feature teams ship with confidence. Your remit spans reliability, security posture, and platform‑aware orchestration, turning complex integration work into simple, repeatable patterns that scale across products. This is a high‑impact, highly visible role that partners closely with senior leadership and multiple feature teams to shape the future of our container infrastructure.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead and Mentor: Guide and develop a high-performing engineering team responsible for the core container runtime and orchestration framework on both FlashArray and FlashBlade.
• Drive Strategic Vision: Define and execute the multi-year roadmap for our unified container infrastructure, making key architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
• Own the Platform: Take full ownership of the container lifecycle (over-the-air updates, persistence, rollbacks, failure handling) and the integration framework used by all other feature teams.
• Establish Standards: Develop and implement strategic operational policies, resource management guardrails (e.g., CPU quotas), and security postures for all containerized services.
• Collaborate and Influence: Act as the primary technical partner for internal customers and senior leadership, effectively communicating the platform's strategy and negotiating solutions in complex, sensitive situations.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Proven leadership in software engineering: You have successfully led and mentored teams building complex, large-scale, or distributed systems—fostering technical excellence, ownership, and a culture of continuous improvement.
• Strategic technical expertise: Your background in platform or systems-level engineering is complemented by experience designing and delivering highly reliable, secure, and performant solutions across diverse technology stacks.
• Architectural and strategic vision: You bring a track record of defining technical direction, setting clear priorities and roadmaps, and making high-impact architectural decisions that align with long-term business and product goals.
• Cross-geo stakeholder leadership: Skilled at navigating organizational complexity, you build alignment across time zones and functions—partnering effectively with product, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders to deliver results at scale.
• Influence and negotiation: Known as a trusted advisor and negotiator, you bring clarity and structure to ambiguity, driving consensus through strong communication, empathy, and a deep understanding of technical and business trade-offs.

We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Prague office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
