The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across a number of sectors including nuclear, hydropower, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design, to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally. 

Our Power, Process & Nuclear division is recruiting for a Project Principal to provide leadership and management to our growing team in Paris. You’ll create growth opportunity through strong client relationships ensuring bids and management of projects, including compliance with Group directives and policies, focusing on customer priorities.  You’ll develop skills and awareness of the functional teams as we aim to build and upskill these functions.

You’ll report to the European Development Manager  and work with Account Leaders regarding specific bids and projects as well as contributing to the leadership of the nuclear team in Europe.

Where required we would expect you to lead and put in place appropriate technical guidance, training and knowledge sharing, to manage budgets, to deliver technical excellence, to direct and manage divisional projects.

Help us to grow our European nuclear business by providing proven experience in the delivery of consultancy services within the nuclear sector. Work with our business development teams, and support the hiring of new staff within our expanding Paris office.  Put in place appropriate technical guidance, training and knowledge sharing to manage budgets, to deliver technical excellence, to manage working capital, to the betterment of Detailed Design and Advanced Analysis, Waste Management, Environmental, Safety Case, Digital and Process functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the management and growth of our French nuclear business

• Support selection of technical staff

• Develop strong and robust client relationships 

• Grow and develop key accounts within Mott MacDonald in response to organisational needs and Mott MacDonald strategy 

• Identifying opportunities and turning them into prospects

• Ensure we are delivering commercially robust proposals through application of a customer focused approach and appropriate innovation in delivery

• Drive the bidding process, converting prospects into projects ensuring bids are technically and commercially sound.  

• Manage risk and commercial performance on the projects.

• Work effectively with the Resource Manager and the Sector/Practice Leaders to bring the right resources to deliver the project to the client’s satisfaction and meeting Mott MacDonald’s profit or contribution targets. 

• Lead appropriate account meetings with client and senior level management involvement 

• Address client’s issues and fulfilling their aspirations on sustainability

• Fluent French language skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to represent Mott MacDonald with new and existing clients and other external organisations and comfortable in a client-facing position

• Proven experience in the delivery of consultancy services within the nuclear sector in Europe
