SUMMARY
Assists in the operation of automatic nut formers that have 5 (five) forming dies and are equipped with automatic feeding mechanisms to form metal wire into all types of nuts and special nut products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation for disabilities may be made for one or more of the following:
• Under Lead Supervision, the Nut Former Trainee assists in the operation of nut forming machines in department, and also:
• Trainee assists with moving controls to cycle machine through settings, stopping machine and adjusting to positions and machine controls to allow for operating factors such as timing, and clearance between moving parts.
• Trainee supports with the positioning and securing of the heading wire onto stock feeding mechanism.
• Trainee supports with the adjustment of specific tooling and transfer fingers at each station.
• Trainee supports with starting machine, observes operation, and with the help of the Nut Forming Lead inspects first run and sample work piece to ensure machine conforms to specifications.
• Trainee assists with the inspection of parts using micrometers, gages and other measuring tools, to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Trainee assists with replacing worn tooling. Under Lead Supervision, trainee operates lath and grinder to recondition or modify tooling when applicable.
• Trainee assists with performing Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks per specification and acts in accordance with output.
• Trainee reads blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number or parts to be formed and tooling instruction on type tooling required.
• Trainee performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
• Trainee implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste
• Trainee is responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
• Trainee is responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.
• Trainee is required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
• Trainee continually seeks opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Working experience in fastener manufacturing environment
• Advance knowledge of nut forming machinery and procedures
• Working knowledge with quality and SPC.
• A minimum of 1-2 years experience or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts and calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios and standard units of measurements.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SPC, and departmental applications (Shop Floor System).
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
