We are looking for our new Director of Finance. Your main challenge will be to shape and execute our funding and investment strategy, as well as owning the quality and delivery of our financial reporting and analysis.

CAPEX funding and rigorous fleet performance management are critical success factors for Pony, so you will find yourself at the heart of our value creation engine from day one.

You will be part of the executive committee and will work closely with the CEO and COO. You will manage our Head of Finance.

1. Funding :

  • Own and execute pony’s funding strategy for both CAPEX (fleets) and operating cash flow requirements

  • Design and optimise corporate structures to support financing strategies (private debt, asset backed etc.)

  • Lead subsidy and grant applications

  • Support the CEO in equity fundraising efforts

2. Fleet Performance & Investment Strategy :

  • Own and roll out pony’s fleet investment strategy. Refine it, tracking cohort performance across the full lifecycle (acquisition cost, utilisation, operating costs, breakage, refurbishment, lifetime value, and exit value).

  • Own the CAPEX planning process, deciding fleet expansion, refurbishment, written-off and renewal strategies, balancing growth ambitions, return thresholds, funding constraints, and risk exposure.

  • Track and analyse fleet unit economics and cohort performance (ROI, lifetime, refurbishment cycles, ROCE, MTBF, utilisation, yield, payback, asset turnover, cohort IRR etc.), and translate insights into actionable investment and operational decisions.

  • Work closely with Operations and Hardware teams to improve fleet financial performance

3. Financial Reporting, Budgets & Forecast :

  • Own quality, precision & publishing processes of monthly financial reports to Founders and to other stakeholders

  • Own the annual budgeting process, ensuring high-quality and accurate outputs, working closely with department directors.

  • Track and monitor key financial ratios and covenant compliance, and review forecasts on a monthly basis.

  • Define the strategy and processes for the company’s financial controlling, including spend policies and approval of policy exceptions.

  • Own and continuously update the company’s business plan, cash forecasts, and budgets, challenging key assumptions and ensuring alignment with our strategic objectives.


Požadavky na pozici

Education: Degree from a top tier Engineering School, Business School or University.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of professional experience

  • At least 5 years in a finance related field

  • A track record of raising significant capital (excluding traditional VC rounds), ideally through asset-backed financing, private debt, or project finance

Skills:

  • Experience raising capital, with strong knowledge of private debt, asset-backed financing, and project finance processes

  • Experience with corporate structuring

  • A strong professional network in the finance and investment community is a plus

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take calculated risks while maintaining financial discipline

  • Strong leadership skills to ensure the ability to contribute effectively at executive committee level

  • Flexible, adaptable to a dynamic and rapidly changing business environment, as scale-ups often face evolving financial challenges

  • Excellent communication and summarisation skills
