The Global Medical Department leaded by the chief medical officer ensure the cohesion and optimal performance of the worldwide medical team (25 medical directors, 450 HCP), provide medical expertise for tele-assistance, second medical opinion, travel for treatment, underwriting of policies and products, support the development of the medical network, perform medical audits of providers, participate to commercial presentations to clients and provide expert medical advice to the management.

Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Group Chief Medical Officer and in close collaboration with many departments in Global and the countries including the countries medical directors, the group and countries operational teams, the Global Medical and travel Network team, the International medical director will be implicated in providing medical technical support to preserve and improve medical excellence in the group.

KEY ASSIGNMENTS

Travel Medical Assistance

 Improve and promote the Travel Medical Assistance Rules and Recommendation (MEDICARRE) within the group and monitor adherence by the respective entities.

• Provide high level technical medical /operational support to the medical and operational teams and help managing the most complex travel assistance cases escalated to the Global Medical team (ALERT)

• Enhance global Travel Medical Assistance Crisis plan (CRISIS) and maintain preparation.

• Contribute to the quality improvement program by providing technical medical support in reviewing past travel medical assistance cases, suggest, implement, and monitor actions plan to prevent recurrences.

• Be involved in the travel medical assistance transformation strategy interacting with IT team to develop the new case management It platform

• Provide medical expertise in supporting entities for complex medical case resolution when required.

• Participate to the management of the Europ Assistance medical community.

• Support any medical initiative/ new program related to the group medical activities.

Medical and travel Network

• Participate to the development of the medical strategy and perform medical audits of providers including hospitals, out-patient clinics, air ambulances.

• Develop some new approaches for evaluating internationally hospital performance and safety.

• Work as a technical medical liaison with the Global Medical and Travel network Department for preparation, coordination, and organization of the on-site medical audits

• Collaborates with entity medical directors to assess the international Network medical requirements.

Additional key functions

• Participate and assists in preparation for the national and international meetings, workshops, webinar and other events.

• Assist and support commercial and marketing team in providing medical expertise.

PROFILE, CORE COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

·       Medical degree ideally completed by a specialization in Emergency Medicine, anesthesiology, or Critical Care Medicine

·       Minimum of 5 years medical practice with proven experience in an assistance company

·       Knowledge in aviation medicine, travel medicine and international health

·       Proven experience in commercial and air ambulance medical evacuation/ repatriations highly appreciated.

·       Active medical license in France and clinical activity up to 20% FTE aligned with Europ Assistance medical activities.

·       Ideally professional international experience

. Proven analytical and organizational skills.

·       Fluent English, both spoken and written, is a must.

·       Willing to travel up to 10-20 %
