As a Principal within Blunomy, you will lead our Power & Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Centre of Expertise. You will shape our intellectual leadership on flexibility, power markets, and distributed energy business models; grow client relationships across Europe and APAC; and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-impact strategic engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Positioning

• Grow Blunomy’s presence in the DER and power-flexibility ecosystem by developing a robust client portfolio across utilities, energy players, corporates, financial institutions, and investors.

• Identify and convert strategic opportunities, articulating clear value propositions across flexibility services, BESS, VPPs, power-market advisory, DER aggregation, etc.

• Represent Blunomy externally through conferences, roadshows, ecosystems events, and thought-leadership contributions.

Leadership of the Power / DER Centre of Expertise

• Lead Blunomy’s intellectual capital on distributed energy, flexibility valuation, BESS optimisation, power-market dynamics, DER/VPP operating models, and related digital solutions (including Orbit/Vision).

• Design, incubate, and scale new advisory offerings aligned with market needs.

• Act as the firm’s internal reference point for DER topics, supporting knowledge development and capability building.

Project Delivery & Client Value Creation

• Own the successful delivery of strategic projects, ensuring analytical excellence, pragmatic recommendations, and outstanding client satisfaction.

• Provide strong thought leadership on project steering, get personally involved where needed, and empower teams to deliver impact.

• Build trusted relationships at C-suite level and act as a long-term partner to clients navigating the transition of their power systems.

Team Leadership & People Development

• Manage and mentor managers, consultants, and experts, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.

• Promote cross-geography collaboration (EU, APAC) and support the growth of junior talents through upskilling on DER, power systems, and flexibility topics.

• Solid experience within the DER, flexibility, or power-market ecosystem (utility, aggregator, grid operator, OEM, developer, retailer, or digital optimisation platform).

• Expertise in one or several of the following:

Flexibility solutions (demand response, VPPs, DER aggregation)

BESS development, optimisation, dispatch or trading

Electrification of uses & rise of prosumers (C&I solar, EVs, demand-side response, etc.)

• Experience selling and managing strategic consulting projects (ideally with a recognised advisory firm).

• Ability to quickly grasp strategic stakes, understand client needs, and build high-trust relationships, including at C-level.

• Robust professional network across the power and DER ecosystem.

• Excellent written & verbal communication; comfortable delivering structured, impactful presentations.

• Fluent in English

• Strong leadership and recognised expertise in the power / DER domain.

• Passionate about energy transition and climate challenges.

• Analytical, rigorous, and capable of synthesising complex topics.

• Able to translate technical concepts into actionable business insights.
