We are seeking a strongly motivated Lead Data Scientist eager to leverage his/her skills in our fight against cancer. The team is located in Paris and benefits from the advice of world-class cancer scientists, data scientists, and technologists, and seasoned tech and biotech entrepreneurs and investors.

Key Responsibilities

Epigene Labs’ team of computational biologists, data scientists and software engineers has deployed pipelines that process clinical and genomic data. These data come from a broad range of sources are heterogenous often semi-structured or not structured.

The main challenge for the Lead Data Scientist is to lead the data science community and being a technical and human mentor for research project in data science and related fields and help growing the clinical data curation process as well as other machine learning related fields of research:

• Design and prototype novel algorithms and process to extract and rationalize insights from various clinical data sources and publication papers
• Collaborate with computational biology and software engineering teams on the development of data analysis and storage pipelines (genomic data, transcriptomic data, proteomic data, etc.) for the discovery of innovative therapeutic and diagnostic targets in oncology and immuno-oncology
• Contribute to the setup of the company’s systems and overall data tech stack
• Document, summarize, and present results in various settings, including management meetings and, on occasion, scientific conferences, research papers etc.

Your skills

• Excellent command of machine learning related programming language (Python preferred)
• Autonomy in problem solving and solution oriented, able to prioritize between issues
• Optimize performance and reliability on machine learning related project.
• Contribute to ML engineering tasks such as defining the right MLOps tools to guarantee internal ML pipeline reproducibility and monitoring
• Demonstration of team spirit, eagerness to collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (ML engineers, data scientists, computational biologists, software engineers, DevOps engineers, business developers, product managers, etc.).
• Proficiency in English - We operate in a multicultural environment and most of our interactions are in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as Technical Lead in a team with Data Scientists.
• Prior experience in Natural Language Processing challenges.
• Prior experience in machine learning deployment in a product.
• Working knowledge of healthcare, biopharma and/or oncology
