Roundtable is a fast-growing investment platform operating across Europe, currently present in France, UK, Germany, Spain, and Luxembourg, with other countries coming next. We operate in a demanding, high-trust environment where excellence and human intelligence are not an option. We are at an inflection point: scaling fast, expanding internationally, and building the infrastructure to match our ambition.
Where we are going. We expect to double in size and pass 100 people in 2027, building a strong European footprint before expanding globally.
About the role:
As Head of People for Europe, you are a co-pilot of our growth.
You report directly to Evan, our CEO, sit on the leadership team, and own the full People agenda, from strategy to execution. The People function is in its early days: a small team of freelancer is in place, and you will structure and build the function around it. In the first 6-12 months you will be largely hands-on, doing the work yourself while designing what scales. As the company grows, you will build and lead a People team.
This is not a maintenance role. You are building the People function, embedding it into our expansion, and ensuring that every person who joins Roundtable thrives in a culture of high performance and genuine respect.
You will be trusted with the full complexity of a multi-country, fast-scaling organization and expected to make it look seamless.
What you will own:
Strategic People Leadership
Define and execute a People strategy that directly supports Roundtable’s growth,
Own workforce planning and the People budget: headcount plan, payroll costs, hiring priorities, HR tools and external partners,
Build and improve scalable People systems and design the organisation as we scale,
Act as a trusted advisor to Evan and the leadership team on all people-related matters, including sensitive situations,
Define and track People metrics and KPIs,
Structure and lead the People team as we grow (today: 1 HR Ops and 3 external recruiters), choosing the right mix of in-house roles and partners (e.g. RPO),
Talent Acquisition & scaling
Own the hiring plan and recruitment strategy across all countries,
Build a structured, fair hiring process: scorecards, interview training, consistent decisions,
Develop our employer brand and sourcing channels, including in new markets,
European labour law, compliance and People Ops
Ensure full HR legal compliance across all active jurisdictions and in each new country as we expand: France, UK, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, Belgium,
Set up the CSE when required and lead social dialogue and employee relations as the company grows,
Oversee payroll, GDPR for employee data, and external partners (employment lawyers, payroll providers),
Handle complex HR situations with rigour: amendments, reorganizations, dismissals,
Select and deploy the People tooling stack, using AI and automation to keep the function lean,
Performance, development and managers
Design and run the performance management cycle, linked to company goals,
Build career paths and internal mobility,
Build and deploy a training plan across all teams,
Design and execute retention programs for key profiles and high-potential talent across Europe,
Coach and upskill managers on the fundamentals: feedback, 1:1s, goal-setting, performance conversations, difficult situations,
Compensation & Benefits
Design and oversee competitive, fair, and market-aligned compensation and benefits programs across Europe,
Prepare for the EU Pay Transparency Directive as it is transposed into national law,
Culture & Organisational Development
Champion a culture of excellence and human respect, not as a tagline, but as an operational reality,
Lead change management and cultural transformation as Roundtable enters new markets and grows headcount,
Run employee engagement programs (e.g. surveys, action plans, eNPS tracking),
Drive DEI initiatives that reflect our values.
10+ years in HR, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role spanning multiple European countries
Proven track record in a fast-paced, demanding environment (legal, finance, or investment preferred)
Hands-on experience scaling HR functions in high-growth companies, from startup/scale-up to mid-size.
Expert command of European employment law across major jurisdictions - France at minimum.
Strong background in organizational development, change management, and cultural transformation
Experience as a HR business partner across multiple geographical zones.
Skills & Attributes
Strategic thinker who can roll up their sleeves: equally comfortable in Leadership team and in the detail,
High emotional intelligence: trusted, empathetic, discreet and direct,
Entrepreneurial and resilient: you thrive in ambiguity and build where nothing exists yet,
Fluent in English, French is a plus.
You use AI as a genuine execution lever: LLMs, automation tools, and AI-assisted workflows are part of your daily practice.
