Account Executive (Payroll) (f/m/d) Personio

Personio's intelligent HR platform helps small and medium-sized organizations unlock the power of people by making complicated, time-consuming tasks simple and efficient. Our team of 1,500 Personios is building user-friendly products that delight our 15,000+ customers and their 1.5 million employees. Ready to make an impact from day one?

This role requires 3 days per week in the office and is based in Munich or Berlin.

Personio has already built one of Europe's leading HR platforms. Now, we're taking the next step: bringing modern, integrated payroll technology to thousands of businesses across Germany.

Personio Payroll is a product we launched to simplify one of the most complex and fragmented areas of HR. Today, we're expanding Payroll across our existing customer base of 15,000+ SMB and mid-market companies — businesses that already trust Personio to manage their HR, and are now looking for a better way to manage payroll.

As an Account Executive (f/m/d) for Personio Payroll, you'll play a central role in that expansion. You'll own the full sales cycle, from creating demand within existing accounts to closing the deal, and help shape how German businesses adopt modern payroll technology.

This is more than an account expansion role. You'll help build the German market for tech-enabled payroll from the inside out.

Working closely with Account Management, Sales Development, Customer Success, Marketing and Solution Engineering, you'll identify where Payroll can create meaningful value for customers and turn those opportunities into growth for both our customers and Personio.

Role Responsibilities: What you'll do

• Build the Payroll market: Identify and convert opportunities across Personio's 15,000+ existing customers, helping establish Personio Payroll as a modern alternative to fragmented and outdated payroll processes.

• Own the full sales cycle: Take ownership from the first customer conversation through to close, managing complex sales processes and navigating multiple stakeholders across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT and C-level.

• Drive account expansion: Develop a deep understanding of existing customers and identify where Payroll can solve meaningful business problems, creating targeted cross-sell and upsell opportunities within our SMB and mid-market accounts.

• Shape the market: Bring customer insights, objections and market feedback back to Personio. You'll help us understand what German businesses need from modern payroll technology and influence how we take the product to market.

• Create demand: Partner with Sales Development, Account Management and Marketing to develop and execute strategies that increase awareness and adoption of Personio Payroll across our customer base.

• Collaborate to win: Work closely with Revenue & Success teams, Solution Engineering and Partnerships to build compelling solutions and ensure Personio Payroll fits seamlessly into customers' existing HR and IT landscapes.

Role Requirements: What you need to succeed

• Expansion mindset: You bring high drive, ownership and resilience, and know how to turn an existing customer relationship into a meaningful business opportunity. You're comfortable creating momentum where the market is still developing.

• SaaS sales experience: You have 3+ years of end-to-end B2B SaaS sales experience, ideally with a strong focus on cross-selling, account expansion or upselling.

• Proven commercial success: You have a track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets, managing a healthy pipeline and delivering accurate forecasts.

• Complex stakeholder management: You can build credibility and influence across Payroll, HR, Finance, IT and C-level stakeholders, while bringing internal teams together around a customer opportunity.

• Analytical & tech mindset: You use data, AI and modern sales technology such as Salesforce, Zoom and Gong to understand your accounts, improve your productivity and make better commercial decisions.

• Product & market curiosity: You're excited by complex products and enjoy becoming an expert in customer problems. You don't need to be a payroll expert on day one — you need the curiosity and ability to become one, while being motivated by the opportunity to help shape a developing market.

• Language proficiency: You are fluent in German (C2) and English (C1), with strong written and verbal communication skills.

• AI fluency: You have hands-on experience using AI to improve your workflow, and the sound judgment to know exactly when to rely on it and when to step in yourself.
