We are looking for a passionate and dynamic scientist to build the tools that will fuel Orakl’s drug development efforts. Your role will be to design, build and optimize new screening methods around organoid culture - including our CRISPR strategy. You will drive high-impact discovery efforts by designing and managing the execution of critical in-house experiments, establishing external collaborations with key vendors, and ensuring high-quality, high-velocity data generation.
PhD in molecular biology, cancer biology, biotechnology, or related field, ~1–5 years postdoctoral or industry experience would be a plus.
Strong, hands-on expertise in 3D cell culture and patient-derived organoids.
Prior experience in drug screening, and preferably high-throughput screening.
Proven proficiency with CRISPR gene editing in mammalian systems (ideally organoids): gRNA design, engineering, optimization, troubleshooting.
Exceptional wet-lab fundamentals: sterile technique, routine culture, molecular biology, cloning, assay development, QC.
Demonstrated ability to independently plan, prioritize, and execute complex experimental pipelines with high quality and reproducibility.
Strong analytical, quantitative data interpretation, and clear documentation/reporting skills.
Mindset aligned with a high-velocity startup: ownership, autonomy, decisiveness, and high scientific standards.
Direct background in oncology research.
Experience with pooled/arrayed CRISPR screens or other functional genomics approaches.
Experience with drug-response profiling in organoids (dose–response, time-course, combination assays).
Previous responsibility for managing CROs or academic collaborations.
Experience mentoring junior scientists, lab technicians and/or establishing lab standards.
Prior involvement in early-stage drug discovery or cross-functional oncology research.
HR Call (15 minutes call) – An initial discussion to better understand your background, experiences, and motivations.
Technical Interview (45 minutes call) – A deep dive into your technical skills and expertise relevant to the role.
Engineering Case (60-minutes presentation + discussion) - You will be presenting a piece of work you have previously worked on and which you are proud of. This will be in front of the relevant members of the Orakl Oncology team. If possible this can be done in person.
Founder Interview: As final step of our recruitment process, you will meet the founders of Orakl Oncology in person at our office. This meeting is an opportunity for the founders to assess cultural fit and ensure alignment with our company values.
